It's the internet people. I mean really, if you are that miserable here, go somewhere else. This is the internet with millions of web sites to visit. First and foremost this is a GUN forum. I have news sites I can visit if I want general news. If I want to talk about guns...I come here. Personally, I detested the spam posts of news articles with NO comments left by the poster. A single poster would post 10-12 articles in a matter of minutes. I liken it to a person yelling "hey you" to me. I turn around only to have the yeller look at me with nothing to say. A post with an article and no comments is an incomplete statement. If you did not have anything to add to the article...don't post it. I do not know if that was what got this whole crap storm started but I never reported anyone over it. It is not my forum so I did not give it much of my time. Fenway is the owner and between him and the mods, they run it as they see fit. They can delete every 3rd post if they want, nothing we can do about it. Fenway isn't making any money on us being here so if you don't like how they run it...leave. The internet has a short memory and you will be forgotten in short order. There are thousands of good people that like it here and they will do quite nicely here without you. There is no conspiracy to deprive anyone of their freedom of speech on someone elses internet forum. If you think that there is, maybe this is not the place for you.

Huh...you really aren't an advocate of Free speech? I am, on every level. Many of the people on this forum are what I like to call "real" Americans. People who understand what liberty is and usually endorse it. I guess I forgot that not everyone is in favor of all American ideals. Not to say that you aren't American or even an advocate of freedom, but obviously, you aren't much on the freedom of speech.

Actually, yes I believe opinions can be shouted down so vociferously that individuals simply give up under the impression that it is not worth their time. Group think sets in and the community becomes homogeneous and intimidating to new members, or even those that have been around for a while. New viewers don't show up and numbers dwindle off - a message board dies. It's happened a million times. INGO isn't the first outfit to try and run a message board and balance the tightrope. There have been many before it that have failed, or simply died off for other reasons. I consider myself pretty web savvy and have been using BBS, forums, messages boards etc. for years. I have also moderated boards as large or larger than INGO. Its no picnic and you burn out fast. The list of people you have to keep happy is longer than just the users. Advertisers, business partners, mods, etc are all part of the juggling act. Gun forums are unique in that the topic itself is so heavily regulated by Uncle Sugar. You think feds don't monitor this place? They aren't over at recipeczar.com, I can tell you that. I mean, think about a new person just getting into the sport/hobby/right whatever you want to call it. They jump on the politics board and the one of the first posts you see is a message from the mods warning about "Talking about civil war". We know what the community brings, so we know its par for the course. Now, just imagine how hard it is to maintain that balance that makes a forum feel welcome to all.

This situation is an interesting one because the action taken was a result of forum usage, not content. I don't get all "free speech" and censorship complaints. The federal goverment, nor the state government of Indiana banned anyone from this site. Change the topic from Islam to legal drinking age, and still its not cool to spam a board with multiple posts, that are c/p, without a link, or no commentary from the poster. If it were my board, I would take the same action. I am assuming the action was a, "Hey, cool it with the board spam.", followed by a "Seriously, knock it off.", concluding with a "We are going to have to let you go." Of course, we have a he said she said over whether that happened. I don't know about you guys, but the Constitution isn't the law of the land in my house, so why should it be for INGO? If you come over to my house and spout crappola at a dinner party that I see as unfit, I am going to ask you to stop, then leave, then never come back.

For the record, I have never complained to a moderator because of the content of, or frequency which, someone posts. Hell, I've never sent a PM on this board. I simply don't like the fact that discussion threads get buried, pushed to the second page, making navigation more difficult. If you have ever moded (sp?) a forum you know that once somthing gets bumped off of page 1, it might as well be dead.

Someone mentioned including all of the links/articles in one post. I think that is a wonderful idea and would love to see something that worked out. If the goal is to actually disiminate the information, one centralized thread should do the trick. Making 7 consecutive forum posts, each a c/p, simply isn't curteous to other members of the forum, and isn't tolerated on any other message board I frequent. Hell, the mods actually will explain it to you here, a lot boards will just delete, delete, delete.

I have done just that. I went from a pretty frequent poster to a couple a week, but why should I have to leave if I don't like it? I will leave when they ban me, in the mean time I will just let my mouse do the clicking.

That is exactly what I'm talking about... You lumped me in with every "freedom hater" in that thread, and AGAIN with your shoe fits comment above. Apparently a lepoard can't change his spots even whey trying to say he has no spots.

Words have meanings. You type them in the context of a thread and they have meaning.

My point is, it's ok for you to wish a group to hell but not for Haldir to post a news article about some nutty islam event? That doesn't fly.

For the record, I have nothing personal against you - and like I said, agree with most of what you post. I fully believe that you have the right to hate me or be bigoted towards pro-lifers, Christians, or whatever. I even think you should be able to say this stuff here in these forums.
