It was 1988. I bought my first gun, a Ruger 10/22, then joined the NRA. I became a life member about five years ago, and signed up my wife as a associate on my membership last year. Eventually I'll make her a life member too. :)
I've got a Winchester Model 94 in .17 HMR and I really like the round. I've witnessed some exploding prairie dogs with it (never saw that with 22s!). Ammo isn't too bad, as I can find ammo as low as $10 for 50 rounds (I just bought a box of 500 for $100).
Okay, this is kind of long and for the record I work for a membership based non-profit... :D
With that being said, you are a correct, they are a business. The NRA is in the business of members. They have to both promote the organization to new members and maintain as many current members as...
About John Deere, last year I ordered a D140 rider from Home Depot online for delivery to my mom's house out in the country. Turns out, it was shipped directly from the John Deere plant in Tennessee and to a local John Deere dealer who delivered it. They were not happy with me for not buying it...
Congratulations on the big news, and that will be a night to remember. Glad you both are okay. :)
I agree. It's not just the gang bangers but the bums. I lived in San Diego for awhile and they let the bums get bad enough to where they were frankly aggressive, which I've noticed some of that...
I was watching a live update of a stores stock of 26 1000-round cases of 9mm. It went down to zero in about 20 minutes. I almost bought one or two, but I thought their price was too high. But obviously others did not think so.
Most interesting that they also call the cops!
Unfortunately these guys will be out doing this again until they kill someone and/or get killed themselves. Scary for them to make a threat against the homeowner.
You are so correct about needs vs. rights. The bill of rights are rights. Nice point! And the police seem to need AR-15s for defense, so why not us law-abiding Americans too?
Our society has it's needs and rights all mixed up. For example, too many people think that the have rights to what...
LOL!
Op, that was a good story. Something like a gun, I'd have to come clean upon walking in the door. Sometimes like tools, parts, etc., I just find a spot for them in the garage and call it good. :)
