I work and take classes at Purdue. I actually had a class with her this summer. I wish I would've known her opinions then, could've been a good discussion.

twice at virgina tech someone shot a bunch of students. I bet you wouldnt have trouble concentrating if the guy sitting next to you saved your life with a glock he had tucked under his sweatshirt. I bet you would apply for your LTCH the next day and hit the range asap.

Is he using a quality holster? If not, I'd have a lot of trouble concentrating. If he was carrying Plaxico style, I might even skip a few classes. Carrying in a quality holster? Carry on.

The sad thing is that she will probably be working in HR at some corporation in 10 years and will be one of the ones to make the 'No Gun' policy. The advice to take her to the range is the best advice. Only by experiencing what guns really are instead of what she imagines them to be, will she be able to act intelligently regarding them.

If she would be working in HR in 10 years, she'd be much better off by choosing a different major. I can't speak for anyone in the business programs at any other schools than the one I attend but we've got some very pro 2nd (and quite a few Vets with multiple combat tours) in our School of Business with 20-30 pro 2nd/pro-carry in the HR concentration graduating in the fall and spring. Oh yeah, for the HR program, I've had professors that retired from the Army, Marines, and Navy (a couple that spent several years vacationing in lovely Vietnam). They also spent many years in the corporate world working in HR as directors, specialists, and generalists.

I am proud to be a Purdue grad and I promise you that the little lamb and aspiring sheep who wrote that piece of excrement is not representative of Purdue students and alumni.

    Really?

I don't take advice from a college student just because they have or are getting a degree. "Most" (emphasis on most) college graduates are educated that doesn't mean they are intelligent. Life experience far outweighs anything that can be taught in a classroom.

Indeed. College is over rated to begin with. You're either intelligent and determined, or you're not. I made more my first year out of high school than most college grads do their first year out and without any college education. I'm taking the time now to finally finish my degrees, but that is mostly to not let the GI Bill go to waste, for credibility, etc.

"If a student received a grade in a class that prevented graduation or some other emotional misfortune, then they could pull out the gun in class and also start a shooting rampage, even though they bought the gun for self-defense."

    :n00b:

    Ummmm...huh? Yup, I failed BIO 101...arrrggghhh :ar15:

I would feel bad as a Boilermaker, except having spent four years there I know that anything that comes out of a Liberal Arts major's mouth is a joke. You want a good time? Sign up to be a Liberal Arts minor just to go in and mess with them. (Environmental Policy is particularly fun for an Agriculture major).

I do not belive this was written by college student, this is not college level writing. No clear thesis, I am not sure what the writer was trying to say other than, "I do not like guns unless used by law enforcement or if they a resgistered." At least that is my guess.
    Cheers

The subject line of this thread is misleading. The letter said nothing about being able to carry on campus if you register your guns with the PU administration. In fact, she was pretty adamant about not wanting guns in the classrooms in any way, shape, matter, or form.
