Gun lock box for car

The box is mounted to the console and will discourage the casual smash and dash. When closed it is accessible from the driver's seat with a key. When left in the car a black scarf (looped around the gear shift) camouflages it enough to make it hard to see from the exterior. It easily holds a full size pistol, phone, and wallet if you're in the gym.

Dimensions on this are ~11" x 8" x 3"

Now when I say he bolted it down I'm not talking about that little cord it came with.
He drilled holes in bottom of the safe, and in bottom trunk and put two bolts to hold it in place.
He put silicone around where the bolts were to keep water out as well.

I definitely wouldn't trust that thin cable. Thicker cables than that can be cut in less than a minute with rather small hand tools.

Thank you for some really good ideas. But I think the small safe under the seat would work pretty well for my compact car. …

And, they have the advantage of being able to be swapped between vehicles if needed (for travel, etc.). Unless something has changed, the folks who toss vehicles to steal things generally don’t carry much in the way of tools. If it’s for temporary storage (ex. when going into so-called gfz’s), should be sufficient.

I have a Hornady lock box for our personal vehicle, while not 100% break in proof it has a thick steel bracket you can secure to the lower mounting point of the seat . It weighs about 12 to 15 pounds. and place under the seat it will give you just enough room to get it open with the key. Very discreet and it’s going to take some one a bit of time to defeat it.

Might be an option?

I may have the same box...not the fastest retrieval system, but a brute to break into to steal a firearm!
I've only used it once or twice (going into a federal building) as I believe in have the firearm on the person and not just stored in a vehicle!

I have a biometric/key/code lock safe bolted in my wife's trunk and one under the flip-up back seat of my truck. However, these are just pistol sized. Most anything is just going to slow someone down, but hopefully discourage even trying.
These hold a gun and ammo permanently, since I try to carry when I'm able. I know I'll always have a gun in close proximity if I'm not carrying.

I know nothing about this one. Literally found it today. I am ordering one if they make it for my car.

With all the uptick in vehicle break-ins, I would rather just carry it and/or bring it in the house. If someone see's something that looks like a safe/lock box, I'm sure they'd come back with better tools...maybe. If someone can take off tires in the middle of the night, I think they can take any bolt or cable off any locked item.

In the past I have relied on concealment more than lock box. When I get a new vehicle I start removing interior panels to find compartments in the body of the car. Years ago I removed the driver door arm rest on a Neon. Then replaced it with velcro to keep it secure. After that I mounted a holster for a 1911 on the under side of it. The car was traded in with the holster still in the door. I doubt it was ever found. I keep my lockout tools hidden in the same fashion. The Jeep Renegade has a place to keep an AR.
