    I never gave any credence to the rep system. It's a fun little toy and that's it. It was nice to be able to use it to give constructive feedback to good or bad posts, but if people want to use it to see how many badges they can get, I'm fine with that, too. Whatever makes the board more fun for people.

    That said, the staff does discuss alternatives to the rep system for things like the classifieds. Whether Fenway chooses to implement any of them is up to him.

    So this is to become a forum where you can't rep who ya want when you want! Whats next ! Limit the amount of posts one can post in any given day!! More regulation is just what we need, It's working for the current political administration!

    Where did you get that idea? The man just asked for people's opinions. If he wanted to do what you suggest, he just would have done it.

    :chillpill::chillpill: <==Take two of these. Woooo-saaaaaa..... Woooo-saaaaaa...... :):

    He got the idea because those of us who've spent an entire career working for the Government can predict, with nearly 100% accuracy, what happens when more regulations are added on ensure that "fairness" is enforced.
    The system breaks down from the added restrictions.

    by one of your "friends" that rep anything you say just to get rep back in return thereby amassing a huge sum of....internet kudos?

    I repped him because I thought it was a valid point made in a semi-humorous way. I don't know if I have ever repped Jclark before. I might have. :dunno:

    it's fun to "earn" rep, but i guess it's not really an important feature either way. a question to ask yourself is whether it helps you accomplish the mission of INGO. if it helps, then great, if not, then why keep it?

    ^This.

    If someone doesn't have fun with the rep system, then don't use it and stop caring about it. Pissing on other people partys is weak to say the least.......(that statement was directed to those who have "issues" regarding the "abuse" of the reputation system)

    It is pie in the sky to think for a minute that there is anything that can turn the rep system into some kind of valuable character judger. People need to learn how to just take things for what they are.

    When I joined this site, I thought there was an option to turn off the reputation visibility. I can't seem to find that option now. I know Scutter has his turned off.

    As far as what I think about it.............

    Rep is a fun little game we play around here. There may be some "cliques", but they are not exclusive. New people come in and out all the time. Those who "rep whore" spend ALOT of time on INGO. For me personally, this is my Facebook. I spend most of my social internet time on this site. The whole "game" has really lightened me up a bit on this board. Since the banning of race and religion talk, I had to find something else to do. So now instead of arguing with people about age old debates, I make friends. I see that as a positive thing. If INGO was limited to gun talk only, traffic and member activity would plummet. Rep is just apart of the social side of ingo. Even if you "tightened" the rules on rep, it's still just someones opinion and means nothing in the real world. It was never an accurate gauge of anything. So I say, if you want to get rid of a small part of the fun that the regulars on this board have with the reputation system, then do away with it. I could really care less. I will still come to this board........at least for now.

    I like what you said here. If interested in receiving rep from me, please PM me no later than 3:30 PM. By the way, my reps come with an instant entry for a raffle to win a FREE custom made Springfield 1911.

    the passerby in this thread would have a hard time believing that it's full of GROWN men given the seriousness with which they whine about the rep system.
