In this case (and this is pure speculation), they probably got a tip about this guy and started by questioning him about the Delphi case. He probably denied denied denied, then they came at him with something like, "Look, we're pretty sure you've already killed somebody, your uncle."
Then, to build credibility for the denials of killing the girls, he admits to killing his uncle. Granted, he didn't actually think of it that way, but that's how the psyche works sometimes.
    Interesting! That makes sense.

Sounds like he has been a suspect all along, can't believe it took this long to trip him up and get a confession.
True! It sounds like if they would have asked him if he did it then it would have answered "Yes"

I know there's no remedy for this, but one wonders if there is some "gold" buried in the dross of thousands upon thousands of so-called "tips" but because of the volume of useless info from people who think they are helping, it has gone undiscovered (so far).

Well, that's good, but it's odd. They mentioned to him about evidence in the death of his uncle and then he surrendered? That seems really weird. If they had evidence... did they just figure that he probably will not kill anyone else?

Having evidence =/= having probable cause =/= being able to get beyond a reasonable doubt in front of a jury.

Just heard on the local radio station that the police have more voice recorded evidence and DNA evidence linking a suspect to the murders.

Some reports say the girls recorded themselves talking about a man behind them/following them.

No reason to get in a hurry, clearly what they are doing this far is working great...

One notable double murder investigation and prosecution that was rushed, that I can think of:

I will trust that they are moving as quickly as is prudent to do.

We don't see what is going on behind the scene AND we don't fully appreciate what all has to happen in order for these types of cases to be resolved with the bad guy getting caught. We want this guy to get caught and justice served, and it's frustrating for everyone. Hopefully he will get caught before he strikes again.

ISP is taking applications. Or you could just call the tip line and tell them who did it, since solving murders is so easy.

But Columbo always had it solved in 30 minutes?

    Dunno.

    WTHR still reporting it.
    https://www.wthr.com/article/police...of-man-behind-them-in-audio-played-for-family

However, it does sound like they got the info from family members who may have heard additional recording(s). The reporting could be based on second hand information from the actual people who heard it.

The report I heard was :Yes there is more audio, no you cant hear it. The family has heard it but nobody else outside of the investigation will hear it.
