I wouldn't say there was any nefarious intent. If he was born in Kenya, his parents/grandparents probably did not know the law at the time and simply figured he was a citizen so flew back with him. Back then air travel was much easier, a woman goes to get on board with an infant and they didn't need reams of paperwork to prove who it was, if it was a citizen, etc. As for the Hawaiian birth certificate, HI issued birth certificates to anyone who had parents living in HI no matter where they were born. It had to do with some fed law (or perhaps state) regarding HI citizenship, "natural born Hawaiians" had benefits naturalized Hawaiians didn't iirc. ETA I do not know what HI put on the bc for place of birth if they were not born in HI.

Ok, let's look at this logically. Obama was born in 1961, Kenya was granted independence from the British in 1963, so the British were still administering all govt functions. If lil Obama was going to fly out of the nation, he's going to need a passport, and given that during the time there were no direct flights to Kenya, there's going to multiple locations where paperwork is needed. Nevermind the fact that it's a white girl carrying a black baby, which is sure to turn a few heads. Ok, so lil Obama reaches US customs, and custom officials seeing a white girl with a black child (IN 1960s AMERICA) just waves them through sans any type of documentation? LOTS of fail would have take place to believe your possible version. The British would've failed to issue a birth certificate, then they would've had to failed to issue a passport. Airline workers in Africa, would've had to been remiss in their jobs. Once in America, customs would've had to drop the ball in a display of epic ineptitude. For a country that kept meticulous records of immigrants during the turn of the last century, the odds would be astronomical, that such could occur repeatedly, with out a single piece of documentation existing.

You mean that after all this time of us telling you, you are just now realizing that Obama is an illegal alien?

there are TONS of reasons to dislike Obama, but this birther stuff is just plain nonsense.

I know, it is just ridiculous.
If he had been honest in the first place about where he was born, we wouldn't be in this mess. But all the lying and cheating he's done has cost this nation dearly.

    It's truly embarrassing.

I'm convinced he was born here. I'm also fairly certain he claimed foreign birth on his college and student aid applications, which is why he won't let anybody see them.

I have no proof of this. It's my gut feeling.

This I absolutely see happening. The paper trail and the dates are what keep it from gaining any traction with me. Obama's parents married in '61 in Hawaii, and she was 3 months pregnant, has him that same year in Aug, and is in school in Sept. If just doesn't make any sense that she would be taking that trip.... For what? To meet Obama SR's other wife who she didn't know about before they got married? And even if they did go, where'd there ppwk of them leaving the country?

Well for firearms, that depends on what state you are in. Motor vehicles, private property or public? Etc, etc. What other previous president has had to prove their citizenship? And as for the PDF falling apart, the creator of the PDF program stated that is how all documents would react that were made using that program.

I wouldn't attribute it to racism. Perhaps desperation to keep a person who was born to a communist and a foreigner with communist or socialist leanings, and raised during a large part of his formative years in a foreign country from being president. That and the fact that his bio which he approved stated that he was born in Kenya. Along with his absolute refusal to release virtually any info about his college years. Along with most likely having at least one university help by forbidding a reporter from accessing their library which contained writings by Obama, after he was already approved to do so.

I have an idea of what to make of it. It's something along the lines of "Oh noes, there's a black guy in the White House, so let's make some **** up about him not really being American!"

I would imagine that even the Grand Dragon has higher priority issues with Obama than race.

Kut (is stooping pretty low suggesting that race is our problem with that POS).

First, the image I copied from the WH website was NOT a PDF.

Second, anyone else has to prove, in advance, eligibility to do damn near anything no matter how mundane. Why is this different?

Third, we know he has lied somewhere, yet still, it is somehow inherently unreasonable and further racist to expect a good explanation. Most of the concerns have been mentioned, but we also need to add how flaky the state of Hawaii got about the B/C.

Now, we are left expected to accept the absence of absolute evidence as proof of eligibility in spite of serious problems that are not in dispute when anyone else would be expected to have coughed up hard proof of eligibility as soon as a plausible question was raised.

Am I? There's a well established history of the denial of the admission of citizenship concerning persons of color. It's been a steady progression every time barriers were broken, or attempted to be. From the 3/5th Compromise, Dred Scott, the military, Seperate but Equal.... etc, etc, etc. History overwhelmingly supports the notion. So when it came to the most recent barrier, the presidency, it's not a huge leap, nor even a minor "stoop," to as the reason "why," this appears to have happened again, and look to the traditional reasonings as the answer.
No one has been able to offer a single shred of evidence concerning Obama's mother's departure from the states, her return, a Kenyan birth certificate, British transit documents, custom documents... nada. The only excuse? Well, they must not have kept good enough records in the 60s...not the Americans, not the British, not the Kenyans.... wow, amazingly convenient for a nations that have been known, individually, to keep meticulous records. And we're supposed to believes that they ALL dropped the ball in this one specific instance?

You keep mentioning a white woman with a black baby, you don't mention that a black man was also traveling with a black baby (hypothetically). Also Jr would not have needed a passport back then, he could have been added to Sr.'s.

What format was it in? From my recollection the WH website had a PDF of the birth certificate available for download.

Why is it different? Not sure, unless that the Consititution doesn't mention any requirement for a candidate or president to prove their eligibility.

Third, yep he has lied his ass off about all sorts of things. What specific lie are you referring to?

Yeah, ok let's say his father was traveling with them..... black man, black baby, white woman.... 1961.... does that sound like the typical wave through? Secondly, how does one add a baby to a U.S. passport, when the child is born in Kenya???? Well the obvious answer, is to go to a embassy or consulate, which..... requires paperwork. So now we've added yet another agency that apparently "lost" relevant paperwork.

What kind of passport did his father have? And why would you think his father would not have been traveling with them? And a wave through? Maybe not, but I doubt it was much more than that.

And you might want to see #6.

I for one thought that there likely was a birth certificate but there was something about it that his family wished to remain private, quite possibly something embarrassing given the level of prevarication.

Like most scandals, the more wildly the catch fought the hook the more interested one was in landing the fish

Then when they went to the trouble to (arguably) alter or falsify a document they wished to release to satisfy the growing public suspicion, something really began to smell. Where I once was merely curious I now am highly interested and will continue to be after he leaves office. I fully expect he played his immigrant status for all it was worth to get ahead in college so such information would not surprise me, but the level of effort that has gone into not settling this dispute tells me there is quite a bit more to it

I acknowledge that there may be a desire on Obama's part not to 'feed the troll' because for some no amount of evidence will ever be enough, but releasing an amateur electronic forgery sure didn't help matters
