    Hey, CM!

Were any of the vehicles in your Mobil 1 photos . . . fast?

What kind of racing did you do with the 'vette?

The Vette was SCCA regulated GTP class.
    Think 24 hours of Daytona.
If you google that car/team (Hendricks GTP Corvette) depending on what site you land on there are pics of me and the boys.
    GTP Corvette works as well.

Yup.......Fast was the main goal. Speed kills but it never killed me. It hurt me a few times but still breathing.

This showed up today. '81, not really my style. Wish it was a Pontiac. It's a 60k mile survivor, mostly original paint. Doing door seals on it. It's cool and I'd drive it though.

That reminds me of a '79 I owned in college. It was a 350, 4-speed, no air car. Had a posi unit(3:73:1 gear ratio) in it. I warmed it up just a little. Mild cam, headers (no CAT, ssshhh, don't tell), no smog equipment, some tuning. That's it.

It was a plain Jane Camaro, not a Z. Had the '79 version of baby moon hubcaps. Kind of a sleeper. Not too quick but it would surprise the guys in the Z's and GT Mustangs.

I don't really wish I had it back. The late 70's and the 80's were the dark age of the automobile in my opinion.

I have no idea what's under the hood. If I had to guess I'd say 305.... Disgrace to the Z name.... Power windows, power locks, air, automatic. It just ain't right!

Don't remember the exact numbers but the factory rated it around 185 hp. From my experience, that was generous.

I remember reading 1980s HP ratings for Corvettes in that range too. That's just wrong.

Fortunately, things have changed. If you like the new hotrods and can afford the options, you can get something with some guts right from the start. That's the way it should be. Choices!

A few years ago when the economy was so bad, I wondered why I saw so many new Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers on the road. Then I found out that they're a lot cheaper with wimpy engines. And people buy/lease cars they can't really afford.

It would be fun to have a car like that, but I won't fit in most of them!
