I love to hear them sing too. This be why I love the 302 Chevy so much.
buddy of mine has a all stock 1968 302 Camaro with 32,000 on it in his garage......rode in it in the mid 80's and yes 8k rpm sounds great side ways in 3rd gear!!!!

A good friend of mine also has a 68 z28. His is not all stock though, he bought it in 1971 with a rod knock. He does have two 302's for it though, the original and a factory replacement block with zero miles on it. It's lived most of its life with a 327 in it, he's just now finishing installing a 400ci Dart crate engine.buddy of mine has a all stock 1968 302 Camaro with 32,000 on it in his garage......rode in it in the mid 80's and yes 8k rpm sounds great side ways in 3rd gear!!!!

Those 302s could rev like blenders.
My understanding is that the 302 came about because of a desire to go SCCA Trans Am Racing, which had a 5L displacement limit. GM has a 283 (too small) and a 327 (too big) in the stable.
Realizing that the 283 crank in the 327 block produced just the right displacement, GM homologated the 302 and went racing with the massively oversquare little V8.
it's so f-ing cold in the garage and I have steering knuckles to install...
and the kid's z28 need the heater core flushed. what the hell... no happening.

Got to have heat in the shop man....got to have it.
Bought a 1968 Cougar XR7-G this summer. It was a Rent-A-Racer out of Hertz at the Atlanta airport. I am pulling the engine and trans next week to go through them. I will also be going through the engine bay while it is out.
It looks a lot better in the pictures. It is rust free, but everything will need to be gone through.

Very cool! Always liked those way better than the Mustangs. When I was a "young boy", when I still played video games, I had a 67 Cougar in one of my favorite racing games. There were better cars, but I liked that one. Was white with a black top.Bought a 1968 Cougar XR7-G this summer. It was a Rent-A-Racer out of Hertz at the Atlanta airport.
