So you have trouble with people that are different from you?:dunno:

...but of course, gun owners should only be seen if they are dressed properly, as if for afternoon tea, well groomed, well manicured, well mannered, eh old chap?

This is how you are coming across:

Not saying you are, not calling you names, just pointing out that to an outsider, that is how your posts read...

theres lots of people that unfortunatly have judged fellow gun owners for not being as well dressed as they think they should be. its sad.
some of the best Americans I know or have ever known look like dirty bikers but have the brains of rocket scientist and the manners of brittish royalty. but when push comes to shove those are the guys I want on my side. not some prissy boy whos afraid to get his nails dirty.

    I hear ya!
I don't get it. There seems to have been a rash of new INGO members that are more anti-gun and anti-gun owner, than anything else.

Aren't we all on the same side here? Aren't we all for the 2nd Amendment, and Article 1, Sec 32 of the Indiana Constitution??

Apparently not. Apparently gun owners have to fit into a certain "mold" to be deemed worthy and acceptable to some...

I never did like fitting into other peoples "perfect" molds. When I see a mold, I just wanna break it. when people say, dont do that, it just makes me wanna do it more

Exactly. Isn't that what the "PC" people, usually the Left, want us to do? Fit into a mold? That of a non-gun owner, reliant on the Government?

    Uhm, no thank you!

I agree with you. There seems to be a new gang of anti-gun gunners. No unfortunately, not everyone is on the same side. This new group of noobs wants to make people that will stand up and protect themselves and those around them look like extremists. They're pretend gun owning supporters.

I can only repeat what Ranger said earlier. I don't carry a gun because it's my right to. I don't carry one to make a fashion statement at Walmart. And I don't carry one because it makes me feel big and bad. I carry one because someday someone may wish to do me or someone else harm, and I won't permit it as long as I'm breathing. I won't apologize for that.

Extreme? Maybe if you're closet a gun-hating leftista. Balls on? All day long.

you guys can complain about putting people into molds, but unfortunately that's how it is in the real world. in my line of work, people with tattoos don't get hired because that's not what the consumer wants to see in my profession.

is it right? is it fair? does a tattoo affect my job performance? of course not but i still wear a long sleeved shirt because i have to play by the rules; at least at first.

but perception is often the most important thing, especially when dealing with a rather touchy subject- ie guns.

Perception is a tricky and fickle commodity.

The tats, body and packaging are what make most men with a pulse want to sleep with the Kat Vondammshelooks hots of the world.

The perception after listening to her talk and how she presents herself make any man with half a brain either bag little Willy first or make sure she is tested if the opportunity to hook up ever presents itself.

So perceptions are neither good nor bad if not based on reality.

While perception might have its place it is always better to judge value by content.

Don't judge a book by its cover.
    That goes double for porn.lol

Here's a single quote (one quote of over 150 pages of similar mental masturbation) from the "where did you OC today? thread...

Anyone that would run home to post where they open carried that day has some issues and obviously gets a lot of excitement out of having people look at the gun on their side.

That being said, I don't actually have an issue with people open carrying, I just don't find it tactically sound and it seems those that do it only do it for the fun of being noticed.

What I get out of this is 1) Doesn't think people should OC even though it doesn't violate any law 2) Doesn't think poeple should post something in a public forum.

That takes care of hating on the First and Second Amendments. Will you be over to quarter some soldiers in my home next?

do you have ac and direct tv? if not, count me out.

Actually one of the evil things I liked to do when I was a LEO was when we had a ranting drunk that was under arrest and trying to say that one of his rights was being violated but couldn't think of which one was to suggest the third.

Drunk: "You guys are in trouble you violated, you violated my..."
Me: "You're probably thinking of your third amendment rights."
Drunk: "That's right! You violated my third amendment rights! You guys are gonna get sued!"

    Never failed to entertain me.

Seldom on INGO have I seen such hostility and anger from a purported member of Law Enforcement. Many of the posts in this thread are a perfect illustration of a common "police mentality" that many LEOs share, and it saddens me to see it here.

    In conclusion:

We will continue to OC. This is a right, affirmed by the state of Indiana.

We will NOT be intimidated into "hiding" our firearms because a police officer has decided that it is not "tactically sound" nor a "wise choice".

We WILL continue to defend our rights, and should our rights be violated, we will pursue ALL legal remedies available.

All I saw was him expressing his *opinion*. I didn't see him attempt to intimidate anyone into hiding anything.

Just because I personally don't like to OC...doesn't mean I care if you do.

Way too dramatic from what I read here. :drama:

LOL. Law enforcement receives notice from Dispatch that there may be a robbery in progress at a Check into cash..it's 2010..I'd buy it. Police arrive on the scene, there isn't a soul in the check into cash because most americans cash their checks at their bank and their check loans have interest rates higher than tickets to Disneyland.

The moron lady says "I heard noises, maybe a drill on the side of the building"..Check into cash is not open past like 6PM, so it's obviously broad daylight. Blah Blah Blah..

The point is, if OP had NOT been carrying and NOT had an LTCH, they would have ran his ID for warrants and said "sorry for the confusion". OP was detained for exercising his rights, NOT being at the "wrong place at the wrong time".

I am looking at this from a LEO and civilian perspective..with a history of Military Police in several countries and different establishments receiving 100's of the same calls, PC stopped when I rounded the corner and the gentleman on the ladder didn't light me up. I don't understand the thought process when you handle a polite civilian like a criminal..

I know I would've been kicking and screaming like a 2 yr old, quoting laws..point is there are 2 types of people..complete *******s and nervous/complying citizens..clearly OP extended them everything at his disposal to not only establish his innocence, but also his identity. That wasn't good enough though, because, O-M-G..he paid money for his rights lol.

At the end of the day, we honestly cannot be angry at LEO's for their reactions to people with weapons. Let's be honest here, it's OTHER HUMAN BEINGS that cause this "problem" with law abiding citizens carrying weapons. We only have ourselves to blame, and the fact that the "system" can't tell the mental future of any given individual in his/her application process.

Being a Citizen currently and a former MP, I have probably responded to more issues involving guns and other weapons than the average beat cop. I worked around places where soldiers had access to weapons I didn't know how to operate that they could've went crazy with.

The point is, if you've been in a situation in the past, be it 15 years ago where you had a terrible experience on a call with a gun involved, you tend to handle the situations a bit differently because that fateful day is embedded in your brain. However, the moment a suspected civilian shows nothing but the utmost respect and willingness to comply with anything you may ask of him, you as a LEO should return the favor.

C-P-R. Courtesy, Professionalism and RESPECT. RESPECT the citizens you protect, for the majority of the people on this board make your lives easier with all the information they cram into their heads to be good citizens and assist law enforcement whenever possible. You have an obligation to protect me, but if I can protect myself and save you the hassle..let me, and thank me for being a good citizen and maybe even brightening that terrible graveyard shift your pulling. <3
