Pffft, try finding a new AM radio station as you travel town to town. One that isn't playing local high school sports or broadcasting Cletus Ray's Ol Timey Gospel Rantings.

Used to have a car with an AM only radio, the guy who had it before me installed a FM receiver that had a low power transmitter to AM. It worked real well.

    Apply purple if needed.

My dad had the same thing in his 1970 Chevy c-10. I think it's still sitting on a shelf in his garage somewhere.

Didn't spend that long, but from when I used to do industrial cleaning I can sympathize. They had us at a refinery waterblasting outside in Feb on the shore of lake Michigan. They couldn't shut the pumps off because the lines would freeze in under 5 minutes. Another time I was at a Nipsco plant on top of one of their boilers while it was running in Aug during a heatwave doing vac work. I don't miss that job.

Yes. Those jobs don't sound like "keepers".
But, I hired in 1991, told one of the old timers I'm only gonna be here a couple years.
    He laughed.

Just reach over and hit the "Wonder Bar" button....

OK.....you just gave away your age with that one.
1959 Oldsmobile land yacht. Every option available including the "Wonder Bar" radio.
Hand or foot operated if memory serves.

Wow. You both must be really old then...I've never even heard of that. :p

When I was a kid we had a car with a push button transmission... It was really easy for a kid to push it and let the car roll into another car parked next to it... so I am told anyway....

Old and GM owners... My state of the art 1970 Ford LTD had to be tuned by hand. Oh, you had those black buttons that would make it jump to some random place on the dial, but there was seldom a station there.

Heh! Yeah...the only thing worse than one of those was a radio without them. :D
