I'm talking specifically to the latest texts with the 16 year old. What crime was there? Yeah, I'm aware he could get gigged for what could potentially be on his computers, but with this girl what crime occurred? If things went as asserted? Solicitation isn't a federal offence, last time I checked.

I can see two possibilities although I do not have any particular reason to believe that they apply. First would be the Mann Act in the event that he brought or arranged to have her brought across state lines for sexual purposes which, incidentally, is the charge used against Elliot Spitzer. The other possibility is that having sex with a 16 year old would be legal; However, if he took any pictures, he is wide open for kiddie porn charges.

    What charges? Ask this guy:

Judge Rejects Reduced Sentence In Former Pastor?s Sex Case « CBS Chicago

    Again, depends on the allegations.

    (a) Transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. A person who knowingly transports an individual who has not attained the age of 18 years in interstate or foreign commerce, or in any commonwealth, territory or possession of the United States, with intent that the individual engage in prostitution, or in any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense, shall be fined under this title and imprisoned not less than 10 years or for life.
    18 USCS § 2423

But I would like to see the texts. There is a big difference between: "Hey Burt, guess what I just did. I paid for sex with a 16 year old. I checked her I.D. to make sure." and "Yeah, I met up with her and we played hide the six inch then I bought her an iPhone."

This was already brought up by another poster, but there is no evidence of transporting anyone across state lines, as yet. That's fantasy. I'm asking solely about charges based on what we know. 1. Having sex with a 16 year old. 2. Paying her $100. The first isn't a crime. The second is, at best a misdemeanor, right? And is there not a statute of limitations on it? So far all we've got is someone saying he did it. No telling what's in his texts, vis a vis his reply to the text.

We haven't seen any evidence yet. Who knows what, where, when or how? I certainly don't. I wouldn't call it any more fantasy than what has been reported which is hearsay based on hearsay, reported as speculation...which may be true.
