If “go to war” is what I think it implies. You may want to invest in something that is popular and has a lot of holster and magazine options. I feel everyone should own an AR-15 and a Glock in 9mm...

As title implys, I'm wanting to know what everyone's favorite go to war pistol setup is. Thinking about buying myself a new setup for my birthday, and wondering what setups were good to invest in.
I’m a fan of Glock due to reliability, how common they are, and cheap mags. I love the mag compatibility of 17, 19, 26, and 34.
I also like having the Glock 22 and 23 with 9mm conversion barrels So you can shoot two calibers.

Nothing wrong with Sig P220 and P228/229, or a 1911, or Taurus TX22.

A Glock 19 was my initial go to for the exact reasons you said, but I figured before I went and bought something I'd see what other people had to say.

It shares ammo commonality and that’s all I care about, I have enough spare parts and magazines to keep the guns running for a LONG time.

OK, let me “say” this. If you shoot enough you should be able to hit what you’re aiming at……End scenario.

Ever seen a target walk away from a double tap in the chest with a 45 acp?

This is not talking about some John Wick kinda guy wiping out entire villages of bad guys cause A tv camera is on him. Just your everyday kinda bad guy assaulting you or your loved ones.

In your life what do you think is most likely?

As a buy the way, I carry a j frame smith.

If shtf, I can change gears rather quickly. Your question was regarding “war” I’m too old for that. But I pray I have some forewarning.

If I'm going to war, I don't really care about the handgun. It's all about the rifle. I suppose I'd want something high capacity and 9mm. Of the stuff I own, any of my Sigs (P22X or P320), or a Beretta 92, would do just fine.
Except for SF and very serious close combat guys, almost everyone in an infantry role is better off trading those pistol ounces for more rifle mags.

    Glock 17 or 19 .
I cut my teeth on a 1911 but IMHO the plastic fantastic is hard to beat .
    My edc is a G19 .
So long story short Glock 9 mm
A 19 is what I was initially thinking about buying, with intentions to carry it too. But, wanted some input on what others have/like.

What's your experience carrying a 19? I've carried a G48 before, but I know the 19 is a little thicker, and the length on the 48 bothered me a little.
