Yeah, I measured things a bit using Google earth. I have yet to find a roundabout design that actually fits in the footprint of that triangle because the triangle is too obtuse. Nobody realizes just how big those are, and that somebody in one of those 3 houses is going to lose a significant amount of land, or possibly all of them. Hell, one house might even need to go. Maybe if they installed an ovalabout?

But looking at the design docs for the new Ameriplex extension a year or two ago at the public info meeting, there will be one built there as part of the project.

On a related note, have you seen the nextdoor members in the neighborhood south of us opining that the section between Mooresville Rd and Mann MUST be adjusted and go a different route? Currently it will follow a natural gas easement that will cut off about 16 homes and separate them from the rest of the neighborhood. There is literally no other route possible within reason. I would love to sit down with them and a map and have them show us a better route because every other route would actually require houses to be torn down. The only other thing I can think of is to put an overpass in that would go over the neighborhood street, but that would be so expensive it would be silly.

This is the group of houses that will get cut off. *yawn* The road will follow that open strip of grass between that cluster and the rest of the hood. You'd think they were complaining that the city is going to bulldoze their houses without compensation. Does it suck? yeah. But I can think of MUCH worse than having to cross a busy road to go visit neighbors. Hell, you just saved a couple minutes a day getting out of the neighborhood!

I think those houses on the westside of Mann are going to have to go when RREW/Ameriplex Parkway gets extended to Southport because it looks like that is where it is going to come through.

I recently had to actually drive up over the curb into the center section to avoid an accident because the woman beside me decided she needed to be in my lane worse than me. Her lane was a right turn only lane, but she apparently didn't want to turn right. The sad thing is that I don't think she ever realized what she did to me.

Could she not hear your blaring horn, and see your middle finger thrust in her direction?

One of these days I shall have a Deuce and a Half, and shall weld an I-beam in place of the front bumper, and cease to give a flying **** about how other folks drive. Switch lanes w/o signaling, looking, or caring? Well, best of luck to you.

    It shall be marvelous.

And big ol grappling hooks on the back for the tailgaters. Hook one on and drag them until they are able to wrench themselves free. It would be more fun than watching a fishing show...

Wife's been stuck at airports for 24 hours.

Lesson: Never fly Spirit, even as a last resort.

Coming in for a landing at MYR... clock strikes midnight.... "Nope, sorry, we're closed now. Divert to ATL."

I hate flying... Anything within 5 hours for work is a drive. Cost works out the same for the company, so they don't care. For personal, we have not flown in 20 years. Costs, can't take anything with you, dirty, smelly, rude... and then stuff like this. I have coffee and Sirius Radio. I'm driving.

Spirit offered her a $7 food coupon, and a hotel voucher with the wrong date on it.

There was an earlier Delta flight to her desired location, but Spirit wasn't doing anything about it.

Aren't passengers entitled to more than this when their flights are massively delayed or diverted?

$7? Wow! She can get a coke and a bag of chips...

Cattle is semi-tractors get better treatment than airline passengers these days.

Of course, some passengers seem to have less manners than a Holstein.

My "lunch" on my short layover in ATL last Friday was a coke and a bag of chex mix. $11.xx

There are few things less miserable than flying. Airports are miserable, the airlines are miserable, the comfort on the planes is miserable. I hit Silver Medallion on Delta this year, plus a few flights on American (and a couple of more regional trips we drove). I hate that I am now officially a "frequent flyer." yuck.

This, and the situations recounted above, are why I detest flying. If it is not at all impractical, I will drive. When I do have to fly, such as for work and driving is out of the question, I have a minimum level of airline. No Spirit, no Frontier.

    But I'd still rather drive.

Did I mention that I'd still rather drive?

I fly on Southwest...a lot. Overall, I've had good experiences...well, as good as a guy 6'3" can have on Southwest.

There was this one time- weather related- when my flight at Laguardia got cancelled at about 11pm on a Friday and the earliest flight home I could get left from Islip ("Where's Islip"? "Actually it's in Ronkonkoma." "Where's Ronkonkama?") at 6am the next morning....and connected through Baltimore, but stories are priceless. Especially stories that involve a dead phone and, literally, planes, trains and automobiles (and a bus) between midnight and 4am through Queens and across Long Island.

I have not flown since I got out of the Army in 82. I cannot speak to modern air travel.

Where is she, and where is she going?

Rent a car. She would be there by now. Spirit will complain, but will pay for it.

I have been diverted all over the place. Evansville, Ft. Wayne, Chicago, Dayton... As soon as I hit the ground, I am on with their agent, and booking a car. By the time other passengers are getting food and hotel vouchers, I am 1/2 way home. A $35 one-way rental, and re-selling your airline seat, is a better deal for them than a hotel room and you keep the seat.

Same here. If I can get there in 24 hours of less by driving I drive. If I have to fly, it is worth paying a bit more for a better airline and better seats.

Methinks that if I ever have to board a commercial aircraft again, it will be because I am evacuating or literally fleeing and will not be returning.

They do not like to clean up after you evacuate in the seat or aisle.

Anyhow that will never happen since the plane could not get off the ground.
