I picked this up today. It's a Colt Series 70 reproduction in stainless.

Here is a picture of both my series 70 reproductions. I have the new stainless and my older blued model. I pretty much tend to leave my 1911's bone-stock, but I'm considering sending one of these in to Colt's Custom Shop to have a little work done, I just haven't decided which one.

Mine managed to get knocked off of the night stand and slid along the top of my MacBook Pro (feels like a bead-blasted piece of aluminum) and scraped the parkerization off of my thumb safety and beavertail... /sadface

It's a carry weapon so I'm not super upset - am just waiting for it to get dinged up enough to justify a new finish at this point... I figure a year or two of carry every day should put it in a good position for AllenM to CeraKote it or Wilson Combat to ArmorTuff it - still haven't decided.

I have been shopping for a new IDPA CDP gun and came accross this yesterday. It is a Beautiful Custom Series 70 colt built with the highest quality componants (no MIM) without a lot of unnecessary do dads (ambi safety etc.) It is a proffessional build that is almost exactly what I might have wished for but could not have afforded to commission.

Sorry if I am Gushing...........I'm just really stoked :rockwoot:

This is my Springfield Armory Range Officer, best group ever. I fired it using milspec 230gr FMJ, shooting across the hood of my truck using a rolled up jacket for a sandbag. Five shots at 15 yards:
