Smells rotten to me too. Different news stations tells different stories. He dress' like the character "Bane" but says he was "the Joker".

Well, we don't really know what he called himself, some half-educated, sit on his brains all day brasshat in NYC claimed this. As reported, "he painted his hair red, called himself "The Joker," the green-haired villain from the Batman movies, according to New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, who said he had been briefed on the matter." That sentence is self-contradictory. I imagine Kelly might be as competent as Commissioner Gordon from the old TV Batman series.

So what will big brother do next?

TSA style pat downs and searches before going into theaters and malls?

Installation of DHS at theaters and malls?

    Further curtailment of individual liberty?

Big brother never lets a crisis go to waste.

But the UN treaty will take care of that, right?

And probably Syria as well. (Assad breathes a sigh of relief as the blue berets take arms away from the rebels.)

It's not a question of simply not being ratified. It's a question of being affirmatively rejected.

When the President signs a treaty, it immediately goes into effect. It doesn't strictly speaking need to be ratified by the Senate and if it's never brought up for a vote, which Reid will not do because he knows he doesn't have the votes for it, then the treaty's status remains in that limbo, but limbo though it be, it'll still be marching toward implementation and enforcement.

A lot of damage can be done to our rights between Obama's pen and Romeny's inauguration with a Republican majority in both houses of Congress when the ATT can get its just repudiation.

Best for the ATT to never see the light of day, or the dark of Obama's pen.

I've heard this point brought up and dismissed by a lawyer. Don't know if it was brought up here earlier & addressed by one of our resident barristers or if I heard it on the Garrison show. The Kyoto Treaty is an example of a Treaty signed by the President which was never ratified, and thus, never came into effect here in the US.

I think the speculation that this was an FBI 'setup' is just a bit premature. There is contrary information that Holmes is affiliated with an anarchist group involved in OWS. That would more easily explain his mindset, methods (and madness) as well as provide a clue about funding (if he didn't do it all on credit) and his apparent ability to booby-trap his apartment with an array of sophisticated devices. Another possible explanation: The Anarchist's Cookbook is still around and Holmes is, by all accounts, a very intelligent person with an affinity for the internet; he could have planned all this himself and located/acquired everything he needed on the internet. Also, I read that he didn't empty his drum magazine - apparently he had a jam (imagine that) and either didn't bother to clear it, or didn't know how.

:dunno: Are all drums like that? Someone brought one for an AK (75 rd I think) last year to our NWI Meet & Shoots and it fired 20 rounds before jamming. They got it working again and again 20 or so rounds and then jam.

I've also seen it with the drums for the 10/22 that jams as well. I'm a n00b on the drums but it seems that the more ammo in a drum the higher the failure rate vs a magazine with 10/20/30 or 40.

The drums are definitely less reliable than standard box magazines. The Beta-mag comes with graphite lubricant. It needs more maintenance and care than a regular magazine. Anything with more moving parts and more complexity is going to be more prone to failure.

Since when is Chicago in Europe?

    Well I took it as;
The way Chicago treats personal liberty they act like they are not part of the USA.

Could though I suppose be making the point that more shootings of 3 or more people at a time happen in Chicago then all those other places combined. :dunno:

Did anyone notice that the massacres mentioned all occurred in "gun-free zones" otherwise known as "victim disarmament areas."

This is a point we should be screaming about over and over and over. (Well, maybe not screaming, but pointedly calling attention to it; then contrasting it with the Florida computer cafe defense.)

    Read this elsewhere:

"Gut instinct - Something huge will happen elsewhere today and this story dominating all the news, will be the distraction that takes attention away from it. Other things are not being reported right now. What's going on outside of the shooting?"

    Good point ^.

Makes sense. It would be just like how ACTA snuck around while everyone was watchin SOPA and PIPA.
