      Double dip recession near certain

I am short in the SP500 and Dow, leveraged short, if you know what that means, and I follow both very closely. The 20 day moving average crossed the 200 day moving average, headed down, about June 6 of this year. The 30 followed on June 17th, the 40 day moving average crossed the 200 on or...

People who live out in the country.

Hold off on purchasing land. Prices may be l;ow now, but they'll go much lower yet. Two reasons, one the banks are sitting on many should-be-foreclosed properties, keeping them off the market, not even kicking out residents who haven't made payments in a year. Two reasons why, one, new forclosed...

Anyone else tired of IWB carry?

My LCP rusted severely after I switched to a leather Galco from an Uncle Mikes nylon holster for IWB carry. Oil rubdowns got most of it off but the surface is slightly pitted now. Now I either carry it OWB or on an ankle holster.

Giving yourself PERMISSION to use deadly force

Condition green...no threats I'm aware of. Yellow alert...I may have to use deadly force to stop a threat, right now or very soon. Having to kill someone is an immediate possibility. Orange alert...I may have to use deadly force to stop an identified threat, one or more specific persons...

SHTF-the bad guys are better armed.

OP/LPs will pick them up long before they get in .50 range. Bad guys will have a series of exercises to pass before they get to where the goodies are. Goodies are parked within blast radius of a 1000 gallon propane tank. if I can't have them, neither can anyone else.

      Hiking in the Rockies

Unless this has been an unusual year, the snow is going to be pretty deep up high. The melt usually isn't complete till the first week in July.

INGO Range Report: Range Drainage Project

Hard work, heavy equipment, an improved range, all good things. Not to be a party pooper, but I get nervous anytime I hear about changes in drainage beneath an earthen dam. I'd want to know exactly what changed to create a swampy area beneath that dam if it was on my property, or my...

      Applied Ballistics

Dave got me started in Highpower, and Stan saved my bacon with an AR FP cotter pin on a Friday before a match, when mine flew off into the grass somewhere around the 300 yd line at Wildcat. Fine folks who will go the extra mile, well worth doing business with.

      So i'm at the range...

Pat Rogers says run them wet. Last I heard he was at 7500 and 12500 rounds thru his class guns, since any cleaning, without any issues. Good enough for me. My babies run clean, wet, and flawlessly.

Where to shoot around Avon, IN?

If the website doesn't help, you can get New Ross CC info, a good steak, and a well mixed drink from a fun bartender at the New Ross steakhouse. Last I heard, Mr. F. was looking to extend the backstop, even though NRA signed off on it, to get the New Ross range open again, after one resident...

ar15 adjustable stock is there really an advantage to upgrading?

I like the SOPMODs because they carry batteries for my optics, because they give me a better cheek weld, because they adjust length of pull quickly like OEM stocks, but don't rattle like OEMs, and because they mark my shoulder less than OEMs. Up to you to decide if those advantages are worth...

      pops guns robbed??

I'll let the Pops haters and lovers thrash out questions as to what was deserved and not. Operationally, I see three smash and grabs inside one year. Some accounts indicate the MO was the same in each. Maybe the objective was street sales of the stolen guns for quick cash. If so, that puts...

      is body armor legal?

There were questions raised over numerous different lot numbers of the Interceptor soft armor accepted by the Marines. In turn, there were numerous series of tests run, by the manufacturer , by the Marines, and by independant agencies. Over time, the situation became very complex and I have yet...

      building/engineering question

For a normal traffic rule of thumb, use a joist that is X inches tall, for X feet of span. Your 2x10s over a ten foot free span ought to be about right. If you're going to add point loads up there, like the compressor or anything else, consider adding a small closet or wing wall directly under...

      is body armor legal?

The Marines bought a bunch of Interceptor vests that were rejected for failing to meet specs, in the area of failing to stop pistol rounds. Buying on the secondhand market you have two choices if you wish to avoid buying gear the Marines rejected. One, pull all the lot numbers of the...

SBR AR15 is jamming - HELP ME

I've spent a lot of time thinking about this, because I have a BAR-10 that does the same thing. Problem IDs as identified so far: 1. Not enough gas. 1A. Port too small 1B. Gas tube obstruction (debris) 1C. Gas tube obstruction (kink) 1D. Gas tube obstruction (tube/key misalignment)...
