One of the following:
- a .22 conversion kit for your 1911
- a Ruger 22/45
A marvel precision unit 2 conversion will be right around $400 and a tactical solutions unit will be about $500. A Kimber conversion will be closer to $300.
Once you have a ready supply of brass accumulated, 40 S&W will be about 3-4 cents more per round to reload than 9 MM. Of course, if you shop around for good deals on components, 45 reloads are only 5-6 cents more per round than 9 MM.
That being said, if you are already reloading 45, you will...
You are correct that the G19 would be the most versatile. However, given some of your parameters, I would suggest looking at thinner gun that is a bit larger than a thicker gun that is a bit smaller. Thus, the Kahr CW9 or TP9 would be the guns I would look at. The TP9 for example is 8+1, so...
Value 1911 I consistently reccomend are the:
Kimber Custom II
Rock Island Tactical
Citadel
STI Spartan
If it were my money, it would be the Spartan, first last and always.
I posted a review of my CM9 here: https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/handguns/154628-kahr_cm9_first_impressions.html?highlight=
I have never shot or handled a Nano, but I would never buy one since it does not have a slide release. Plus, my CM9 and my regular carry gun (another Kahr) have...
Limited to the 3 you listed, I would pick the XD. I already reload 45 and that would be the primary reason. Given my past Glock experience, the G20 would be tempting, though I would likely get a G21 if I wanted a big-bore Glock. I do not like Walther pistols because of the goofy mag release...
The most important advantage that the SR2 has over the P22 is the slide on the SR22 is not made from zinc alloy. So the SR22 should be a lot more durable. Plus, the P22 has a simply terrible trigger, a terrible mag release and is not very accurate.
Based on reviews, the SR22 is a nice piece, though I honestly have never shot one.
I like the Browning Buckmark, the Ruger 22/45, the GSG 1911 and the S&W 22A. The 22A is a screaming deal and the 22/45 is the most easily upgraded.
I have a lot of trigger time on the guns mentioned other than...
Yeah...I saw that. Looks interesting, but I would probably pass. If I were going to buy a pistol in .17 HMR, it would be for hunting or maybe silhouette shooting and I would get a revolver.
The LCR seems like a nice piece, but a S&W model 442 is actually a bit cheaper. As is the 638, the 642 and the Bodyguard.
So I would have to call it draw 'cause I sort of love Smith revolvers.
