Thought about heading to the theatre tonight with the wife.....now? I dunno.

    Oh just go. BFD.

So, went to Taco Bell for lunch. Lady to my right looked at me disgusted and said "Do you even know or care what happened?"
    I played along. "Pardon?"
"A shooting in Colorado and here you are with a gun open for everyone to see."
"Yes, that's what it is. Thank you for noticing." I was noticably irritated by her ridiculous attitude and obviously emotion-filled statements.
"Well you should be ashamed. Don't you worry, those will be taken care of soon enough."

I gave an audible laugh as I took my food and walked out.

Awww, you should have pointed out that it was a No weapons allowed mall with a no weapons allowed theatre. So nothing possibly could be true about a shooting in colorado because guns aren't supposed to be there. People are allowed to frolic and be free of the worry of those dangerous guns. People with ill intentions magically bounced off the forcefields related to VEZ's, but those nasty guns just went right in anyway even though they knew they were bad, evil, dangerous, scary looking guns.

And then point out something like that Flordia 71 year old that stopped an armed robbery with a room full of people.

I do not OC very often, and to be honest I'm not a huge fan, but today my kids actually asked me too after watching the news.

So we visited Office Depot, Staples, and Penn Station in Noblesville with no incident, weird looks, or panic in the streets.

This occurred about a week ago. Our conversation went somthing like the following.

Dicks: Receptionists Went Nuts and was like OH NOOO OHH NOOO you cant bring that in here.
ME: Whats the matter I have a permit.
Receptionist: Don's shoot anyone You can't carry that here.
ME: I have a permit whats the matter.
Receptionist: If you bring that in here I have to call the manager you have to leave.
Me: How about I cover it up.
Receptionist: Alright I didn't see anything but just don't shoot anyone.

Then earlier that week I had a security guard tell me in Meijer that Indiana was concealed carry only I told him it was open and we went back and forth until my mom told me just to cover it up...

Funny thing is I've been OC for about 4 months now and I carry at my place of employment and haven't gotten any flack until this month.

^ Sounds like you found one who was insane and one who was merely mistaken.

The second one can probably be cured. ;)

I haven't posted in this thread lately, so I will sum it up in this post:

I've OCed most everywhere and everyone around me loved it. :rockwoot:

I savored the flavor of delicious spaghetti and meatballs at noodle and company in greenwood while OCing my G19. Went to Hertz @ Indy Int Airport (long story but I was pissed) and absolutely nothing happened. SSDD.

OCed at Bite the Bullet grand opening. Mostly to show off the fine hooch holster I was wearing. Walked around with 2 year old daughter for about an hour. I CC 99.9% of the time, but will OC at INGO events or at my private range. So OC is not my norm. Over heard one guy talking about how how OC just didn't seem right. Hey his opinion. Was visiting with Mark and Mrs. GPD177 when Mark noticed the radio station guy taking my picture. They got a kick out of an obviously armed guy with his daughter. So I did what any self respecting INGOer would do, posed for more pics and told them yo post it on the internet.

I semi-OC'd while going to get my wife's rental car, with my 5yo daughter, @ Blossom Chevy and Enterprise Rent-a-Car. No wierd looks, no comments, no mass hysteria; all was well.

I was there too. Also stopped by Home Depot. One of the garden area guys asked about getting a OC/CC shirt like mine... May have a new member from Seymour soon.

Today I OCd at the Ham Co 4H fair. Pushing a stroller, holding small children, the whole nine dangerous yards. I was like a ticking timebomb, I tells ya, with my milkshake and interest in bunnies.

After about 2 hrs the 4H ladies' nerves got the best of them, because hey, clean-cut man OCing with his little kids was "generating complaints."

So the one little 4H lady comes up to me and asked if I had a permit to OC. I informed her that there was no such thing, just a LTCH. CC or OC both legal. "Can I see it?" No, I said. You're not an officer of the law. So she then tells me they have had lots of complaints and mumbled something about some policy they had (she was lying at that point, I'm sure of it.) She said she could go get an officer if I wanted. But, I wanted to look at the chickens. So I said "If I show it to you, will you leave me alone?" She said "uh, ok." So I showed it to her, and gave her a mini (but polite and totally friendly) lecture on what it was, and what was legal. She looked interested, but later on I discovered it was just to get my name off of the LTCH.

So we rounded the chicken pens about 5 minutes later and a brown-clad gentleman from the Sherrif's dept showed up and asked if he could talk with me outside the tent. "Do you want to see my LTCH?" I said? "No, just want to have a talk." So I left my family and stepped out of the tent, to meet him and another officer from the Sheriff's dept. They told me they had "over ten" complaints, and were hoping I'd decide to conceal.

They were very polite, and I "broke the rules" and chatted with them for a bit. I very directly asked them twice if they were ordering me to conceal or leave, and both times they said no, they weren't. I also asked twice if they wanted to see my LTCH, and they said no, and they didn't ask for my DL either. But, it turns out the 4H ninny did go to them and gave them my name, they confirmed it by saying "Are you... ?" So, they knew I had the LTCH but didn't need to see it for themselves, apparently.

During the course of our conversation I asked them if they realized that OC was legal, and they both agreed that I could carry how I liked.

Basically they did a mild version of the "good cop bad cop" routine on me, it was so obvious it was comical. One guy stood there like a stern but silent tree stump and the other one chatted me up, told me how they were totally pro gun, but gave me all of the same old "it's better to conceal because... When I was younger I was like you but now I want to blend in, I have the advantage that way," etc etc. Yeah, all of the CC arguments from the OC/CC thread. It's like they had it memorized :D They also asked me if I had military or LEO training, and said that they could disarm me so fast. (I had a thumb break leather holster on my belt.) I smiled and nodded.

They also referenced the theater shooting, and said people were "extra sensitive" and now wasn't a good time to OC. I told them that I was "extra sensitive" too, about crime. That's why I was carrying to protect my family.

They said they would not tell me to cover up, but they had to "protect the peace" and people were starting to complain. He did hint that if too many people complained they'd have to call in the Sheriff (for what, wasn't clear.) In the 2 hrs I was there, I saw a few looks; but looking back, I'm sure it was just the overly-sensitive ladies of the 4H who were complaining.

I chose to cover it up in the end, because I did not want to get asked to leave by the 4H people. We were just not ready to go yet.

I have to give the guys from the Sherrif's dept a :yesway:. They were professional and courteous, and did not lie to me or give me any illegal orders.

A big stinky :noway: goes to the nervous nellies with the 4H though.

Tonight at Three Rivers Festival in downtown Fort Wayne. Had my XD9 Tactical on one side and two mags in a holster on other side. Got a couple of looks from civilians. One guy asked where I served (I was wearing a Black T-shirt honoring fallen military heroes). One guy asked if anyone gave me any crap about OC'ing and I replied "nope". He smiled as he told me he was also carrying. Passed a billion Police Officers with only one who gave me the stare down from across the way. More comfortable tonight than ever for me. Very good night. Wasn't sure how it would go after the Colorado deal. Figured people would wig out on me. Honestly, most glanced at my gun and went about there way. I felt "normal".
