I don't know anything about auto comp. I will have some of my
170gr Precision Bullet with tight group on sunday to compare loads.

Not sure if the 40s&w trojan comes with an 18 pound spring or not. Most 45 1911's come with an 18 pound because if you are shooting a standard 230gr factory ball load it is usually around 840 fps, which is a power factor of 193.
Since I am loading to the 165pf I drop the spring weight and the gun shoots flatter for me.

If I had a better Chrono I would load them down a little .I just don't want to take any chances after the 165.1 at the section last year.
I use tightgroup as well but you have to load to Max to get 950fps with 180gr 40. This is why I am experimenting I an going to try unique next . I think a lot of 40 shooters use it. autocomp is designed to make a lot of gas to work the comp on open guns , it's probably not the best choice.:)

I did one of the ACT intro classes last year and really enjoyed it. Hopefully my wife will approve my time off request!!! How long do these matches usually run?

usually done before 1500 it depends on the stages. 6 of these stages are classifiers so they are a little quicker than most

So what is a realistic goal for a first time shooter?

Some of you have seen me shoot FNS, I'm just wondering how I will do at this!

I know have fun and shoot, I have fun anytime I shoot. Just wondering what to expect.

    My goals are:

To shoot accurately, not worry so much about time. Speed will come.
To learn the process, and thus minimize penalties.
To beat the new Glock guy...
