The part of this I do not understand is the original reason he lost the home in the first place. Yes, he was charged with elder abuse of his monther(does not say convicted),but how does that cause someone to lose a house they own free and clear as stated for the reason the state took his house?

That said he does sound like a "winner" in the sarcastic sense.
