This argument is pointless. I didn't look past the "top 3" candidates this past time--they all had progressive tendencies--to one extent or the other. Eliminating the democrat party, the vote for the R's-no-matter-what's vs. the throw-your-vote-away's are both getting democrats elected. The R's keep nominating un-conservative, republican-progressives and the 3rd party guys are nominating clowns with very narrow voter appeal.

It is what it is. Had the R's actually nominated somebody that could articulate how constitutional discipline could solve our country's problems instead of saying he agreed with Obama (on certain things) or hadn't laid the ground work example for ObamaCare, I believe Obama would have lost in a landslide.

    Nope.

Just saying this argument is pointless. But it gets hashed and rehashed here over and over. If I remember my stats of the last election correctly, had every vote for the Libertarians and the other parties that the R's would like to think should have gone to them done so, Romney would have still lost.

Had a real constitutional conservative ran, one that could articulate and inspire, theres no doubt s/he would have blown BHO out of the water. And those other parties would still have gotten their decimal point returns.

Exactly. If only the Repubs had ran a conservative. A lot of R's I know did not like Ron Paul at all, so I asked them if they would have voted for him had he got the nomination, they said yes because he would have been the Republican candidate.

They didn't care who had the R in front of their name so long as it was an R

What lost the election for Republicans is that not enough Consevatives were inspired to turn out and vote which tells me that "voting for anyone but" is not an over all blanket moniker for all Republican voters.

A true Conservative candidate would have done far better because they would have gotten the rank and file Republican plus the Conservative vote in the election assuming that a majority of those Republicans that didn't vote were of the Conservative GOP variety.

I don't think it's to hard to figure out but for some reason the GOP insists on running Democrat Statist Lite. LOSER!

Seriously? Have you not heard any of the facts that have been put forth? If every 3rd party vote went to Romney he still loses.
Coupled with the Stay at Homers???? Sure the choices s****d. But look at what we got NOW! Plus, there's more than just the W H at stake! I'm not voting for some 3rd Party NUT! ( I M H O ) Sorry...... :dunno:

I've come to believe that had McCain and then Romney gotten elected, we *might* have tapped the brakes. We probably wouldn't have gotten ObamaCare. We probably wouldn't have sold arms to narco-terrorists in Mexico. We probably wouldn't have left guys to die in Libya. We probably wouldn't have had such an assault on our 2A rights. And maybe...just maybe ...the spike in national debt wouldn't have been quite so asymptotical.

But we probably still would have flipped the switch on that data center in Utah. We probably would still have had to combat at least UBC's and magazine capacities this past year. And we probably would have still accumulating debt instead of really addressing it.

No it probably wouldn't have been as bad. But maybe by it getting as bad as it is, it might have awakened a few people. We might not have the Lee's, Paul's, and Cruz's had Obama not been elected. I know I'm repeating myself when I say the election (2x) of Obama may have been a blessing in disguise.

Because believing in constitutional government, fiscal responsibility, not going to war unless we're attacked, lower taxes, increased freedom and liberty, less Patriot Acts, less NDAA, less asset forfeiture without due process, less big government, less War on ______________, ... these are the positions of a "NUT", right?

This is YOUR PARTY's fault - YOUR PARTY'S constant efforts to look more centrist in comparison to the party that's always moving toward socialism and communism, have resulted in YOUR PARTY sliding further and further toward that same end, and has driven away its own voters. I honestly don't know if it can be fixed at this point.

could it be possible that had JUST those been presented (especially by *supposed* 2A supporters), that those things may have actually passed? What i mean is, that through the broader and more aggressive approach that the current admin took maybe it rallied the people more? enough that the voices were actually heard? and therefore nothing got passed, whereas some pro 2A guy saying all we need is UBC's maybe it would have gone under the radar...?:dunno: just thinkin out loud

Learn to read and comprehend. My comment had NOTHING to do with Ron Paul.

YOUR GUY (Romney) lost because YOUR PARTY (Republicans) drove away enough of its own voters to ensure defeat.

So take up Romney's loss with your own party. Don't blame Ron Paul or the Libertarians or any other 3rd party for your party's voters staying home. That's the fault of YOUR PARTY.
