Yes. What they mean is: the world started the moment I started paying attention when I was in my twenties and we've never been more divided in that time....and I'm not even sure that's true. Louder and more crass, yes.

I think it's fair to ask for perspective, though.

In my lifetime, this is probably the most divided I've seen things. I like to hear from some of our more experienced and seasoned members their views on it, though. TV shows of earlier eras don't necessarily present things accurately... but I'm in the middle of a Mad Men re-watch, and it's interesting to see (even when the show was made 10 years ago) they're using a lot of the same language about the 60's that we use today... Things like "I don't know if it's fair to bring a child into this climate", and discussing riots and clashing political groups, political violence, etc.

To Wyoming, The Black Hills, Montana, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, but no where near cities of 50,000 or more. Maybe not near cities of 5000 or more, or maybe even 500.
