I have two signature lines. One relates to actively defending yourself from tyranny, the second describes the consequences of not doing so. Sadly I think it is 50/50 on which will be the reality moving forward: the first sig line or the second. One effect of the events at the Capitol I think is a lot of folks have had to think seriously for the first time what they would do when dark forces arise and come knocking.

Society evolves and we are long past the point where we can go back to "the good old days" (which were not as good as folks think). A popular rising and armed insurrection can not work today. Let's face it, with roughly 3% of the population actively working towards independence in 1776, and the vast majority then either against it or apathetic, it only succeeded because the core could act without immediate reaction or intervention from the Crown itself. If King George and the empire had modern transport, communication, and social media we would have failed.

The challenge of the partnering of big tech, main stream media, and a large number of really wealthy people who think they have the right to exert control is close to insurmountable. The best case scenario I see long term is the balkanization of the U.S.A. into regional areas with loose, limited federal control. This is already happening with such issues as immigration/sanctuary cities, marijuana/legal drug use, etc. Worst case is a hybrid socialist central control a la Hunger Games, 1984, V for Vendetta, etc.

That's where the problem lies, Democrats and Republicans just vote for the party. You should vote for a person that represents your values. I think it is very true to this day but you also have very valid points. I think 90% of Washington is corrupt... It's all about money. It has been said that elected politicians come out of Washington richer than they came in....except Trump. It is said that he is 600 Million down from when he came in.
