Think I'm going to try something this week. I'm going to mark all posts as read then log off tonight at midnight and stay that way 36 hours. At noon on Wed I'll come back and do a post count. I'm going to count threads (not individual posts) that are actual discussions vs WTS/WTB/WTT posts. Since every time I look at the Unread Posts page I have to sort through tons of classified posts just to find something to actually read. I want to see what the actual ratio is.
The simple solution to this problem is eliminate the post count criteria. Make entry to the classified section to site supporters only. This would generate more income for the site, while removing the issue of tracking and smacking runners by the mod staff.
I think one exception should be for those giving away "free" items. But do I get the famous cheeseburger for the thought..
My favorite classified are the ones where the guys joined 3 to 5 years ago and haven't posted anywhere else since they hit 50. A few weeks ago I opened 10 ads in a row before I found one that wasn't a classifieds squatter. There are so many. I have seen 3 rifles in the last few months. I would have bought on the spot if I saw a site supporter badge. One in particular I want really bad. I almost messaged and told the guy I'd buy the gun if he became a sight supporter. But I did the usual and skipped over the ad. I'm pretty sure it's still for sale.
If you don't post anywhere but the ads section I won't buy your period. I know others feel the same way.
It doesn't always work.... That's all I do is insult the man. I should be sitting on a mountain of cheeseburgers.....Hey Church-
This Cheeseburger thing. All I have to do is insult you?
