WASHINGTON, June 17 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Monday that U.S. authorities would begin next week removing millions of immigrants who are in the United States illegally.

Trump says U.S. agency will begin removing millions of ...

Well, at least he gave everyone a heads up ICE is coming. :dunno:

Mr Trump tweeted on Monday night that undocumented migrants in the US would be "removed as fast as they come in".
US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) typically does not announce raids, and the agency's officials told US media they had been unaware the president would tweet about the plans.

ICE should know better.Of course he's gonna tweet.

I recall him criticizing the military for announcing invasion plans in Iraq. I guess he forgot the value of surprise.

What is the downside? Equating this to Iraq where announcing a date of invasion would get lots of Americans killed certainly doesn't seem to be much of a risk here.

At the end of this, illegals will be voting in places with strong political machines, keeping the machine in power for ever. A Niagra of federal money will flow into these places enriching the top slots of the machines beyond imagination. You will have the privilege of paying for it all.

    Always follow the money

Just curious, but where's the money lead to with a massive increase in "removing millions of immigrants"? :dunno:

I mean, they should have been aware ICE was coming jan 20 2016. If they havent figured it out by now wow

They did... and the levels of illegal crossings dropped dramatically... until it became clear that "bring a kid to the border" works as a "get in the country free card"... and illegal border crossings sky-rocketed, because it "works" for them to get into the country.

In many respects the illegal is an asset to a machine. He has no rights other than what the machine gives him, drivers license, government aid, etc. The machine protects him from prosecution by the feds for being here illegally, and that's important because it provides the next best thing to slaves for businesses. People work hard if they have the sword of deportation hanging over their heads 24/7 and don't think businesses don't know that. An expanding population, counted by the census, is going to bring extra representation, increased federal dollars, and programs, all of which provide benefits to the machine and it's allies.

Illegals are a big business these days, maybe that's why immigration law is so expensive as well.

Like I asked, who's making money by sending them back?

People who work for a living and won't do the work illegalsdo for sub-minimum wage--and then there is Trump who apparently is not concerned with profiting and is motivated to work for the people who elected him.

    A) Not seeing a whole lot of people lining up to work fields or process chickens. Nor do I see shoppers asking for higher food prices.
    B) FIFY.

Not sayin' it's not a good idea to get some deportations going, but but sometimes the "follow the money" logic is tinted by ones political POV. If Joe replaces Jose in the field, Joe is just as likely to be suckling at the govt. teet.

It'd sure be nice to get some meaningful immigration reform, but congress is too busy trying to get boys to complete against girls in HS.

...and you never will. Of course, that doesn't mean we won't pay higher prices caused by enforcement of the immigration laws.

More people may line up for those jobs if they were not sub-minimum wage, or more accurately, sub what people are willing to work for.

Sure, there are micro-economic effects of immigration enforcement that are felt much more quickly than the macro-economic effects.

What would be really nice is an immigration system that allowed and tracked migrant workers and could ensure that they were in the U.S. when necessary for seasonal agricultural work and not when the season is over. Then, everyone would win (to a certain extent)....but we can't have nice things.

Very nicely explained. I was about to start at the point where the argument was analogous with saying that most criminals do not support law enforcement and then addressing the points you addressed so well.

I find it disturbing that so many people conflate jobs Americans will not do when paid next to nothing with jobs Americans will not do under any circumstances.

The truth of the matter is, if forced to pay the "full price" for labor in the fields, what we may not see is more "Americans" in the fields, but more innovation in the agricultural equipment business...and it makes a lot more sense to have people ar Deere make higher wages.

I'm pretty familiar with the San Joaquin and Salinas valleys having lived there and some of the family still have ranches. Automation has greatly improved crop yields, but it won't be a replacement for farm labor. Not unless you want completely tasteless products. On the other hand, many people really don't remember what tomatoes and watermelons should taste like. :)
