What brand of soap and brush did you buy? A word of caution, if you get a lot of irritation, it may be the soap. Some people can get really sensitive to sandalwood.

Not too bad.......gonna git 70's !......then rain Thur/Fri............weather kill'n me on 'is dang job.....too many miss'd days, an' 'at don't pay nuth'n.....ya know...

Good choices. Talor of Old Bond Street is a great brand with highly rated products. I own that same brush. It preformed pretty well after it was broken in. It smelled horrible when it was new, like a wet dog. I had to soak it in a vinegar solution and let it dry full of lather to deodorize the brush. I, along with a good deal of other people, don't think that it is really badger hair. The suspicion is that it is boar hair with a dyed "badger" ring. Regardless, its still a great performer when broken in. I used mine for well over a year without issue other than it loosing a fair amount of hair.

I wondered about that. The reason I didn't buy a boar brush was the reviews about the smell. I'm not quite ready to drop $100 on a name brand brush.

I have a real badger and it stunk when new too. There is no avoiding the smell. Follow the instructions here and you wont have a problem:
