Iran hands over stockpile of enriched uranium to Russia

A Russian ship left Iran on Monday carrying almost all of Iran's stockpile of low-enriched uranium, fulfilling a major step in the nuclear deal struck last summer and, for the first time in nearly a decade, apparently leaving Iran with too little fuel to manufacture a nuclear weapon.

The shipment was announced by Secretary of State John Kerry and confirmed by a spokesman for Russia's civilian nuclear company, Rosatom. Mr. Kerry called it "one of the most significant steps Iran has taken toward fulfilling its commitment," and American officials say that it may be only weeks before the deal reached in July takes effect.

I was watching part of John Kerry's press release. He was detailing some of the steps taken, and the prevention going forward. It did seem a little fishy that all of this came out the same time that they released American prisoners that have been detained for years....

But, I will say, it didn't seem like near as bad of a deal as when this story initially broke back in July. That's IF everything was truthful. Am I missing anything here, someone that has actually researched the issue - as I have not. Kerry said they won't have near enough enriched uranium to be able to make a bomb, and they are monitoring all uranium mining and will know if they are creating "weapons grade" uranium. Again, I'm not claiming to be informed, but at first glance it seemed like it wasn't so bad. And again, that's IF he was telling the truth

Hopefully it's a new day for Iran-US Relations. Maybe finally we can end this ridiculous posturing by both sides. And there's a bonus: With Iranian oil entering the market, we're sticking it to one of our worst "friends," Saudi Arabia.
