It was a really good range trip. Kind of like a CZ shoot in that we spent a lot of time shooting other folks guns. I took the USGI Colt along since it was Veteran's Day and it was shot more today than it has at any one time since I got it.

Yep, the Colt shot very well and it was great to get to shoot it on V-Day ;)

I got my new punch kit from Midway yesterday, and used it this morning to install a new CGW fiber optic front sight in my son's 75 Compact. With just a few easy upgrades, that compact is becoming a neat little blaster. He'll get new wood grips as a stocking stuffer, which is what the FO sight was supposed to be as well, but I could hardly stand having that new sight and not get it installed before our next range trip. The grips can wait.

    Projects. Ugh.

Pulled the old furnace out and got the new one set in place and the duct work is done and power is on it. Still need to get the gas to it and finish up some odds and ends. I thought I would never get the thing out of there. I was getting a bit miffed as it was "Really" put in there well. Not wanting to come out. Guess I put it in "To" good 20 plus years ago. If it is worth doing well it is well worth over doing......:):

So, when does phase II of retirement begin? You know, the one where you actually retire?

A little houskeeping tip/experience. I had not removed the firing pin to clean out the striker channel since The Wizard upgraded my P-01. It was a quick rainy day project yesterday, and easy enough to do... and I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of carbon. Round count since the Cajonization surgery is in the neighborhood of 400 rounds I would guess, maybe 500. FWIW, it was an unecessary exercise, it could have easily waited much longer.

    Morning folks! :coffee:

That's good to know Hop. With the roll pin in there, cleaning the firing pin channel is one thing I tend to rarely do when cleaning a pistol. I'm not a fan of roll pins and wish CZ would find a better method of assembly. Roll pins are the thing that turned me off on clones.

I completely agree. The firing pin block seems to make roll pins a necessary evil for this sort of thing, but I had a Ruger SR9C that allowed for firing pin removal/cleaning similar to a 70-series 1911 by removing the back plate on the slide. Similar to a Glock, even. It's not hard to do on the CZ, but more complicated by having the roll pin than it needs to be IMHO. I've sort of been mulling over the idea of an 85 Combat for exactly this reason (no firing pin block), but can't justify having one when my 75B full-size already fills this spot.

I have a nice, tight transitional that I really should finish Cajunizing. Right now, it's the wife's gun, but she has no interest in it and it's too nice to just sit in the safe. That, too, has no roll pin for the firing pin. It's like the earlier pre-B design with the 1911-ish fps.
