Doooooooiit. The Cajun spice is very nice. Get some flavor on that sp-01.

Keep the sp-01. Cz’s are meant to be steel :abused:
IMHO, the sp-01 is a lifetime gun. I’ll never sell or trade mine. It always has a home in my safe.....and I can’t say that for many other of my firearms.....

I do need to finish the Cajunization of my full size SP01 though. That one feels good, but lacks that CGW spice that would make it really shine. I've been holding off on doing the full boat Pro kit on it because I've toyed with trading it for a Phantom II. That's probably not going to happen though.

Good morning folks! Have any of you ever heard of a CZ 85 Compact in 40 SW? It's a new one for me and has definitely peaked my interest on the first day after DST.

That is an odd one. I thought that all CZ 85s were full sized and that they were all 9mm.

Picked up the new to me loaded.
This is a seriously nicely fit out 1911. A deal that should not have languished in the classies like it did. Wow. Not a whole lot I need to do here but I will find something as I got it for a project.

1st.....Pearce grip enhancement.

And they are fit.

The sights are really nice. The trigger breaks at a clean 3 lds. The bushing is nicely fit up.
Dang it all.

My photos were to big to tag onto my post so I had to sign up with Imgur so I hope I get this right. http:// http:// http://

The only down side is it is pretty large. I was able to slide it under a workbench and mount the controls to the wall and out of the way.

That's pretty cool. Yup, definitely on the large side, but if you have the space, it's great.

I really should keep it. You are right in that a steel CZ is a gun that will last several lifetimes.

And where is Birds at !
He will know for sure.

From the little info online it looks like it was made around 2002-2006 and was the model before the P-06. It's on gunbroker if anyone wants to take a look. My search for a P-06 has not gone very well and this seems like the exact same handgun.

Be careful with that CZ 85. I have a railed 75B Compact in .40 made in 2004 and it has been a huge headache getting it to run well. What I found on mine was that they used a 9mm weight slide (289g) instead of the P06's weight slide (340g). My 40P also has the 340g slide and runs really well. The light slide in the .40 75B causes issues in slide velocity and it's tough to tame since the compact does not have a lot of room for the recoil spring. That lack of space means that as you get close to 22#, you start to get spring bind. Also, the spring house on those is shorter than they are on other compacts, I guess to allow more slide travel maybe, but it adds to the issues in finding the right spring combo. I've gotten mine to run with a factory main spring and 22# recoil spring and am working on trying a DPM Recoil Reduction System. The first one I bought was eaten by the gun in 10 rounds due to that short spring house. There is a custom one en-route right now which should fit.

Have you looked for a 40P? I have one and it's a Colt 40B slide on a P06 frame. The thing is a tack driver and with a stainless guide rod, is very reliable. The only real downside to them is the odd Colt sight cut. Other than that, they can be quite the nice pistol, especially when Cajunized.

I'm guessing that this is the one: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/714538892

My gun is identical in every way except for the rollmark. Mine has the same ambi controls, but says 75 on the slide in place of the 85 on this one. The biggest difference in the frame on this and the P-06 is that the P-06 is aluminum and this is steel. Before I'd buy this, I'd ask the seller to weigh the stripped slide (minus barrel, guide rod and spring) and if it's a light slide (290ish grams), beware. If the custom DPM system works on mine, then it could be a great gun, but I'm guessing that while I can make it reliable, I don't know that I can make it great. If the recoil system does not allow me to lighten the main spring while staying reliable, I might check with AllenM to see if he could weld the slide to add weight in there somewhere.
