It has been my understanding CCI 550 mag primers are harder to set off than the 500 primer.

You are correct...Magnum primers are harder..

Cool! That's good to know, and as soon as I get through the magnum primer batch of ammo, I'll switch back out to the 11.5# springs. That also explains why when I did a trigger job on a S&W 66, it worked fine with 38spcl and had misfires on .357 Magnum ammo.

Just got back from the range. Man is that Sig a sweetheart! Didn't shoot it as well as I did the rental gun last weekend, but still shot it very well. Had a great time and it was awesome getting to spend some time with my Niece before she heads back to Virginia.

Beware the belt slide holster. I love belt slide holsters for their versatility and comfort. But, I realized my mistake last evening. I have a nice leather belt slide for my brand new PCR. It's very comfy. On a belt slide the muzzle is exposed. I was only slightly concerned about damaging the gun because, as a rule, I don't usually bump into things. What I didn't consider is the other side of the gun. I have been wearing this belt slide with the PCR in it for only a few weeks. In that time the rivet on my jeans has completely worn the finish off about a 3/4" x 3/4" square. I noticed it the other night. It is down to bare metal. This gun is only about a month or so old. :ugh:

I have noticed this before as well. I don't remember which gun, but it had brass/copper marks all over it. I quit using that combo for carrying after that.

I'm in a happy place right now. I got a package full of CZ parts today, have the pre-B in the oven curing after getting a new coat of paint and there's a mystery gun coming on Tuesday. I really have no idea what I bought, but do know that it's an Israeli surplus CZ 75. I have no idea if it's a B, transitional or a pre-B. If it's a pre-B, I might see how I can tune it with only springs and existing parts. I compared the pre-B trigger to the CGW 85C trigger today and they are identical except for the stop screws in the CGW trigger. I think I can match the hammer angle and hook height as well as polish the sear. Or, I might just go the easy route and buy a bag of CGW goodies and have fun that way.

As most of you guys know I usually put Hogue finger grooves on all of my guns. Recently, I got my old milsurp 85 back from AllenM. He cerakoted it in Midnight Blue and it is really beautiful. So now I am considering putting some fancy wood grips on her. This is something that would have to happen down the road a bit as I have two fairly substantial commitments in the short term. Anyway, I am arguing with myself over this. I have expressed pretty strong opinions about grips in the past. I think a carry gun, which this will sometimes be, should have "shooting grips" not fancy "look at me grips". I suppose I could get them and change them out for special occasions. This is hardly an earth shattering dilemma but it's the kind of thing that I think about at oh dark thirty in the morning. I will post pictures of the 85 after the rebuild is complete.

    :coffee: Morning BA.

I think the Hogue grips feel great in the hand and work out really well on the CZs. However they don't look the nicest. Which is most important, looks or feel?

I stumbled across these new Pacmayr checkered rosewood grips the other night for $23.99, they won't be in stock for a few more weeks, but look pretty sharp to me.

Wow, those are really nice, especially for the price.

5:30 in the morning and I have both safes open and am sorting through trying to decide what needs to be done before the get together. I need to get some foam to line the bottoms of a couple of ammo boxes for the .40 and .45 mags. Lots of gun cleaning to do. With my new spiffy gun box I will be able to take quite a few.

There is the sense of urgency to get stuff dialed in this week for sure. I have a small list of stuff to order. It doesn't help when all these companies are running Memorial Day specials and distracting me every 5 seconds. Oh look a squirrel.....

Yeah, temptation is strong but money is tight. Been struggling with whether I should sell a gun to loosen things up a bit but that is counter-productive. There really isn't anything I want to sell apart from the little one I have listed.

Honestly, I'm getting a bit bored with the market. I need to either take a break, or start viewing things differently. I'm finding it harder and harder to be thoroughly impressed with anything out there. I have a few things that I really enjoy: CZ, 1911, AR-15. Everything else lately is just kind of...meh. Seems like I keep dumping endless amounts of time and money into a gun, only to lose interest and end up selling it to move onto the next shiny thing. Maybe that's where the fun is? I'm figuring out a lot of things this year, just seems like a damn expensive process. Be easier if someone would just tell me what to do. :)
