Just got back from the range. The rain must have been a 'south of Indy' thing. I'd dry down here now too and the range was dry. I shot the compact CZ today and it shot beautifully, except for 3 light strikes that took two hits to light off. I'll swap the 11.5# hammer spring for the 13# today when I clean it.

This would have been a great morning for this.
What kind of ammo? I use all 11.5# springs and never encounter this.
Beware the belt slide holster. I love belt slide holsters for their versatility and comfort. But, I realized my mistake last evening. I have a nice leather belt slide for my brand new PCR. It's very comfy. On a belt slide the muzzle is exposed. I was only slightly concerned about damaging the gun because, as a rule, I don't usually bump into things. What I didn't consider is the other side of the gun. I have been wearing this belt slide with the PCR in it for only a few weeks. In that time the rivet on my jeans has completely worn the finish off about a 3/4" x 3/4" square. I noticed it the other night. It is down to bare metal. This gun is only about a month or so old.
A new beast is born?
I've had this happen with both my stainless and compact now, but when using the 11.5# spring. I have not seen it happen with the stainless since moving back to the 13# spring. Both guns have the extended firing pin, but I think the light strikes only happened on the stainless before I swapped the firing pin out. The ammo is reloaded Xtreme 124g plated over 5.4g Accurate #5 using CCI Magnum primers. For a while, the #550 Magnum primers were all I could find and I bought a bunch and adjusted loads to account for the hotter primer. Are magnum primers harder than standard primers?
In both guns, the primers fired just fine in all cases in SA, but the slightly shorter compression on the hammer release in DA was not perfectly reliable. Maybe it is the magnum primers that's doing it. When I'm bench checking for function after working on a gun, I use an 8 inch length of wooden dowel that I sand the end smooth on to check the firing pin. With the 11.5# spring, I get about 18 to 24 inches of travel vertically with the extended firing pin. With the 13#, I bounce the dowel off the ceiling. Either of those should be strong enough to ignite a primer.
With the 13# spring back in the gun, I'm getting a 3# SA and just over 7# DA. For a carry gun, I'm happy with that.
Rust isn't a finish? No, it's just a little spot. But, now I have to watch it for rust. I will eventually have to get it fixed. Just a PITA.
Got an email from Buds, $10 off each gun new or used through midnight Tuesday. That's $259 for a CZ75 in poor condition and free shipping.
Ha!You better get a backup.
It has been my understanding CCI 550 mag primers are harder to set off than the 500 primer.
