I experienced an A.D. and no, trigger was no where near my finger.

I'm certain that was an atypical situation though. Not that it can't happen, but I'd bet most of the types of ND's that you see in gun shops and such are just that, negligent. Having had guns have mechanical issues before, I can definitely say I'm not one of those INGO members who says there is no such thing as an AD. It can happen. I like the term idiot discharge though, as that covers everything except mechanical malfunctions... :):

That damned RIA went off at the range when I was trying to clear it.

    RIA's suck.

I just got back from the range. I ran 50 rounds through the 40P with one FTF. I put 25 through each mag and the one that has the fresh spring worked perfectly. It's too small of a test to really draw any conclusions from, but the one FTF that did happen looks like it could have been a mag spring issue. Overall though, I love this gun. Even with the stock trigger, it's a shooter. I can't wait until it's tuned and running like a top.

I always liked the 40P. I just could never get over the sight issue.

I had a buddy with a 686 that went off at the range. I was watching him. Finger nowhere near the trigger. Some odd thing with that gun and clearing a malfunction of some sort.

Scared the **** out of both of us. Always follow the basics. Gun pointed down range in a safe direction. Hands off of everything when the range is cold. No issues at all with that AD because of following safety rules.

But man did that scare the **** out of us.
