Watched the report about this on the outdoor channel i think wednesday. Wasn't impressed with it after researching more info. Everything was supposed to be 22lr components but won't work in a 22lr rifle. What's next, a 46acp or a 9.5mm cartridge. Anything to make money and gun nuts will always blow money on it. I didn't pay much attention on the round cost, but probably alot more than 22lr, just like 380 costs much more than 9mm which makes no sense being 380 is just a slightly shorter 9mm round.

Yup. Looks like a other experiment for the ash heap to me. If they'd made it to fit existing rifles, it would have a chance. Stupid.

    My first thought too....
Considering the push on many places for lead free ammunition, this may be an effort to get in front of regulations that will prohibit traditional 22lr shooting.

I had a buddy tell me about this , my first thought was another 5mm rimfire? And then "the answer to a question that doesn't exist "
I do not follow the trends, so I do not have a cabinet full of oddballs no one wants.
I will believe in .21 when Anschutz adds them to their fleet of rifles

I am interested in a "watch from a distance" way.

22LR, by modern standards, has many issues which degrade accuracy, effectiveness, and manufacturing. Among these are the heeled bullet which precludes a jacketed projectile.

For a 22LR competitor / replacement however; it will almost surely come down to cost per round with accuracy a secondary issue. Thus the rationale for using as many 22LR components and processes as possible.

Personally I think it would be good for the industry to move to a more modern cartridge design, but I don't believe there is any price elasticity to get there. When the move is made, I suspect it will be due to the price / regulation of lead changing the cost / benefit analysis artificially.

Since my marksmanship sucks, the accuracy potential is probably not going to matter to me. Someone like 55fairlane might notice, but I probably wouldn't.

I guess these corporations have forgotten about what happened to Coca-Cola in 1985 with that whole “new coke” BS!

At least with 30 Super carry it caused the support for the 32 H&R mag guys to ge the support they needed but the 21 Winchester thing I just don’t see it!

If that’s anyone’s thing good luck

This has all the feels of staying up late Saturday night at the honky tonk two steppin' Garth Brooks and waking up Sunday morning to Chris Gaines.
