The 2020 General Election Thread II

Trying to find some pictures to help it sink in slightly. The RNC is the Far-Right, The DNC is Center-Right, and the actual Left is not currently represented in American politics.

The spectrum shift since the 60s is almost the polar opposite of what is described here. JFK would be a Republican in 2020 - and a fairly "conservative" Republican at that. Barry Goldwater would be completely non-viable. Meanwhile in 2020, Sanders (a Socialist) was ridiculously close to winning the Democrat nomination, and AOC and the Gang are forming the center coalition of the Democrat party.

"Cox for Congress" is either the most moronic political scientist in existence, or this is some Grade-A gaslighting.

True. But FDR was an anomaly for that time. Most Democrats in office today make JFK look far right.

Well, that's when the culture wars started, and we've been on a slow and steady march leftward ever since. (despite what Cox for Congress claims)

These thing come in cycles with peaks and valleys, but the overall trend definitely skews toward the left over time.

I'd rather just see a list of any projects he's worked on if he really is an engineer (outside of a rail yard). Would like to avoid the ones where structural integrity would be important

Agreed. But FDR was still way further to the left than just about anyone else at that time. That subsequent slide to the left is how we got to where we are, with almost every Democrat out there being way further left than JFK. So it seems like we're in agreement on this.

Reading the new Political Compass site is something. Basically Europe is Center. You have to be left of them to be considered left. That is why the parties show the way they do on that chart.

Biden got the most votes, because they were not votes for Sleepy Joe, they were votes AGAINST Trump and everything he brings with him.
