See? This is what I'm talking about. If you're interested in what is true, why do you say people are saying things they didn't say? You're both clearly talking about tariffs.

It seemed to me like glitch75 is saying that if Mexico doesn't want the tariffs they'll pay for the wall. Personally I think the whole idea of Mexico paying for the wall is silly. But there is a sense to the strategy.

If products made in Mexico coming to the US have tariffs, yes, that cost would be passed onto Americans. However, tariffs would make Mexico a less attractive place to manufacture stuff. Presumably some companies might move back to the US. So it is as a bargaining chip that Trump put on the table to get Mexico to play.

Now we can discuss how wise or foolish that strategy is, but it's not as senseless as you think. I suspect you're smart enough to figure that out, but your desire to believe the worst about Trump has clouded that from you.

See here again you think I disagree because of Trump.

No, it's wrong headed. But it is another wrong headed idea proposed by Trump.

Just because he has no problem with going bankrupt and paying his creditors less doesn't mean it;s a good policy for a government such as the US where our dollar has remained so strong because we are known for paying on our debt.

    but it says........:dunno:
"This has of course had all sorts of people up in arms: but the glory of this is that The Donald is exactly correct here, even if we usually prefer that people don't say so."
