If you read the actual editorial, it actually doesn't sound racial. Amazingly, I think he used KKK as clickbait.

Instead, he says Americans that support ideas he doesn't like are "socialist-communist" and enemies of the people who need to be punished.

Seems like I've heard that someplace before....

Is there any law against calling for the hanging of politicians? Could be interpreted as a threat I suppose, even if he didn't mean it as such (other than rhetorically).

About the only thing I can think of that would get a prosecutor to pause a grand jury in a high profile case would be a promise of a confession/plea. Maybe there was some sort of professional courtesy that might cause the prosecutor to delay it, but that's about it.

Or maybe political pressure from the Chicago "machine"?

There is a small percentage of ignorant people that are very prejudice.
