IKR Haven't seen that since the 1980's.

They used to have art competitions until 1948, with music and painting events.

If they decide to bring hot dog eating contest or origami then it will become an Olympic sport.

The definition of sport is very vague anyway ...
    So, pretty much anything?

I just looked up bowling. It was a demonstration sport at Seoul in 88 and hasn't been back. I'd go with bowling over break dancing.

I remember the horror of the only sport on saturday afternoon was bowling.

    I still have nightmares.

I think Breaking as they are calling it, is only on the last weekend.

Air pistols are used only for 10 meters.
For 25 meter they use .22 pistols.

Those are considered firearms in most countries.
I heard that even the UK's Olympics team had to come to France to train since pistols are almost impossible to own in the UK.

With how quickly the games became woke I'm surprised they still use actual firearms for some events.

In the past they had real shooting events such as "300 meter military rifle" and "20 meter military pistol". That was back in 1908 in England!

The American team won the gold medal.

Imagine doing events like that today with actual military rifles.

What a sad state this world has fallen to.

Israel is nowhere near the "gun culture" folklore often makes it out to be.
Oh I don't know - (almost) everybody does military service, 2 years for females and 2 1/2 years for males.
A lot of people open carry rifles there and not AR15's but real M16's.
However I have never been there - just read about it and looked at the pictures (see the link)

    Like I said, popular folklore.

The events of October 7 may illustrate a more insightful view of the actual gun culture in Israel.

But wasn't October 7 a multi site coordinated military attack with missiles and military vehicles and hardware? A gun culture isn't going to fare well against that. There isn't anyplace in the US that would fare well against that either. Yes, we would probably hit back but the initial attack would do serious damage.

I still hope we don't have to find out. Nonetheless, I recall why my Grandfather said about hoping.

"Hope in one hand, **** in the other and tell me which one fills up first."
