Good to know.. I just planed 2 apple trees. My wife was mowing and somehow knocked off 4 of the low hanging apples....but there are a few more. I in the past put some horse manure in a bucket and let it break down and pour it in after planting.. hopefully that is not as bad??

Yes, better than chemical fertilizer but you still want to take it easy. Horse manure is very hot. Also best that they don't bear fruit in establishment year. They need good roots first.
