I don’t know much about hummingbirds and we have a few every year at our feeders. Been fortunate to find a nest in our tree the last couple of years. This years hatching survived. But I didn’t know they would reuse their nest. The female is back on her nest and I believe she has more eggs. Also I never seen the male help feed the young during the first set raised.

We have lived here four years now and always had a few hummingbirds around. This year the wife put out a feeder so we have quite a few now. Yesterday I was in the garage, built on the house, and thought I heard one. Figured it was outside near the feeder and the wall is not insulated so hearable.
Later I went out in the garage and there was a hummingbird sitting on the step from the house. Must have been inside the garage earlier and then after I closed the door couldn't get out and got tired. I gently picked it up and took it outside and set it on a wood runner on the fence near the feeder. Went inside the house and looked out the window and it had flown away. My good dee for the week. Jim.

Yeah, I've found dead ones in my garage before.

Hate to report this but I found a dead hummingbird in the back yard, across the yard from where I put it on the fence. I assume it tried to fly home but was too weak to make it. Jim.

    A holler in Kentucky
Here in the southern part of the state they are going crazy at the feeders. I see them from sunrise to almost dark. We have three regulars that like to hover an inch or so from the patio door and look at the dogs. The dogs seem to enjoy watching them too.

Still have atleast 2 on all 6 feeders here now. About 5-6 dogfighting at the same time. Lost 1/2 if not more when we had that cold spell come through. Usually don't leave til the 3wk of October but the latest ive had was Dec 3. @mom45 might still have a few pics of some late November ones ive had. I leave my feeders up til the first snow just in case.
