I'm up for this (with standard date disclaimer.)

I am more comfortable speaking than shutting up but am capable of either.

(no, I can't prove that from my posting record here on INGO.:D)

I have quite a few friends who I know would like to be involved but don't have LTCH or a gun for that matter. So what I've been telling them is come anyway - Carry a sign, take pictures, Film it for the interwebs. ect.

And as far as a date, My suggestion is to hold off till at least mid to late September (It will be a bit cooler and more comfortable so we can dress pretty :D)

Also any thoughts about alerting Media outlets prior to the event? The worst outcome of this (SHTF aside) would be for the march to go off without a hitch but nobody ever knowing we were there.

I don't want to have the moderators involved here. I can only imagine what their thoughts are on this.

My thoughts as a mod? Ummm.... How about:

Be careful, be safe, good luck, stick with it, focus on the cause not any egos, hope the best for everyone, if you do muzzle up be sure not to bend over when sitting down, stay on course and avoid all distractions of personality, remember what is most important here, keep a sense of proportion and humor, and I hope everyone can make this a huge success.

It is NOT illegal for citizens to open carry a long gun in public without a LTCH!:D

And Rep's for the "alerting the media" suggestion. That is a MUST!:twocents:

You are correct but Savage has said a few times he wants everyone there to have a LTCH (if they are carrying) This is to ensure everyone is legal to carry any gun (no felonies) for this first attempt at this.

Caesar's wife must avoid even the appearance of impropriety.

Extra careful. Belt and suspenders. Not one, not two, but three life jackets worn one on top of the other. All done to make sure the first event goes off without a hitch and without anything turning around to bite us.

I am just relaying what he has said before, but your comment will be helpful...

I hope I haven't overstepped any bounds, but I've sent emails to the National, Fort Wayne, and Michiana chapter contact points for Pink Pistols suggesting they join us in this, with a link to this thread for discussion.

I plan to extend the invitation to others as well.

Also, if I missed your commitment to come and your name isn't listed in the OP, let me know so I can update it. Remember though, names listed are those who are truly committed to this. Not the maybes. If you're a maybe I can make a seperate list I guess.

I'll have to be on the "maybe" list until I find out when it is. If I don't have enough lead time to request a day off at work, it will be only by chance that I can be there.

AWESOME!!! i have a couple friends that are PP members, hopefully they will make a strong showing.

And I'm gonna throw this out there in an attempt to nip it before it starts. Lets keep this a single issue as possible. As in this is a 2A march only, and IMHO any signage or shouting that has to do with Health care, abortion, Anti-Obama, gay marriage issues, Conservative vs. Liberal, Socialism ect. should be discouraged.

I don't want to sound condescending but the political lean of this board can be exclusive in the sense that those who are pro-2A but anti-other views commonly enforced by the membership can feel pushed away.

Also the march itself should have a very "positive vibe". So when the media jumps on this (and if its big enough they will) they can't frame us as angry protesters.

Also as much "reaching across the aisle" as possible should be endorsed. So we should try our best to include groups that would rarely march together on the same issue. I would suggest postings on sites like Democratic Underground and contacting organizations like an Indiana version of Blue Steel.

I am still waiting to hear from Fenway on whether or not we should/could wear INGO gear at this march. If he says no, INGO has no place at the march. Just know this is not an INGO event. Not unless he wants it to be one. I would gladly have INGO sponsor us, but it's not my call. I'm sure if we do this right, then the next time around we just might get that blessing. For now though, I'd be content with this just being a grassroots flash rally with no sponsors. Concerned citizens.

I think as a good measure of site preservation all INGO attire should be refrained from being worn in my opinion.

The reason behind this thinking is if anything is twisted or misconstrued by the media, or (God help us all) if a actual incident would take place and law enforcement has to be called in. Then the good name of INGO could be dragged through the mud by accident.

The vision of a INGO item worn by many attending could lite us up on the radar in way we don't want attention, being looked at, and protrayed by the media as a gathering place for nut jobs, wackos, or worse case a breeding ground for home grown domestic terrorist. All that is needed is a slight slip and we all know how things can be wrote wrong or edited to say, or make something look 180 degrees from the truth.

Granted this is a WORST CASE SCENARIO that should be thought of.
I always expect the best things that can happen, but in the back of my mind I think about the worst also.

    I agree with you.

I also agree with The Meach about making this a single issue event BUT i do think we should have an undertown of being patriotic. Maybe have someone at the front carry an American Flag. Maybe one at the front and back. I also think we should dress in red, white, and blue. What do you guys think?

I emailed the IUPUI rep for the SCCC a few days ago about an unrelated issue and have yet to hear back so i would say do not waste your time with that contact. Maybe try IU's or PU's SCCC rep.?

*I got his email from the SCCC website, so maybe it was out of date also.
