Is that including the facebook group and invites to different gun rights organizations? And once you have a date/time/meeting location/route Do you know if we have any clever photo shop users or anything that can do up a fancy invite?

    Edit:

Or i could get bored and try it myself

Its quick and dirty mind you but it should be good for inviting people

The 1500 will also be the 29th. Many gun type people will be wrapped up in that.

Me included. I have a few things I need and I"m hoping people have come to their senses on pricing.

I was thinking though, this would be a good opportunity to get the word out.... :stickpoke:

I've been thinking about this event since it was first brought up and initially supported it but have to withdraw my "I'll be there". There are people on this board that I REALLY hate to agree with but upon further reflection don't feel this will go down in a good way. It doesn't matter how we are represented, how well behaved or how professionally this is organized, when it is all said and done it is still going to be an "armed mob descended on downtown Indianapolis, film at 11". Pictures of people running in fear ala Godzilla movies keep coming to mind. I'm obviously a 2A backer or wouldn't be on this board but we all know how the media twists things to suit their purpose, reporting isn't done any more, spinning is! Just take the way peoples quotes were repeated out of context after the Brady Bunch show last week. Heck they even completely changed what Mitch said about wearing a helmet while riding bikes and their wasn't any way that they misunderstood what he said. They understand that sheeple aren't interested in the details only the soundbite! Why do you think those damned "reality" shows and Springer et al are so popular nowadays. The typical Americans attention span isn't much shorter than their memory and that isn't very long.

I truly hope things go well for those attending this event and just hope it doesn't come back to bite somebody (us) in the butt!

    TO EACH HIS OWN!

You could STILL be of assistance by carrying a camera and documenting the events as they unfold.
If you are TRULY concerned about the outcome, make SURE people know what ACTUALLY happens.
You don't HAVE to carry to support us!

Perhaps you could convince one of the board attorneys to provide legal assistance if needed? Kind of a mass bail-out? Word of warning...do NOT tick off the initial hearing judge...baaaaad idea. ;)

I'm kidding...sort of. It really would not hurt to have an attorney on retainer. And the number to a bail bondsman in your pocket.

You probably should call the clerk's office and see if you need a permit. 327-4740.

I was talking about the increased number of people in town for the MotoGP race, but I did not think about the 1500.
What a great idea...start at the fairgrounds...west on 38th to Meridian and south to the Circle. That should be right at 5 miles. Think of the coverage you'll get. And right past all the local TV stations!!! :rockwoot:

In your face channels 6, 8, 13 and 59!!!! Talk about grassroots...starting at the 1500!!

SE...you can put this together in a week!! There will be tons of INGO members coming to the 1500. There will not be a better opportunity than this.

Once we get the date set...I can print up several hundred of these for handing out. :yesway:

Your shorts are too tight? Oh you of little faith. Seriously...think about it. With an event this large in town...it would make it much more difficult for local politicians to put pressure on you. Any other weekend and there are no eyes on them.

I'm just saying...don't let this opportunity pass by.

I think we should get a date set by the 1500, So we can use it as launching platform to get people to come.

Edit: Oh and here is an updated version of the Flier. More I'm a bit of a loss as to what info to include on it.

Agreed :yesway: You'd at least have the good will and sentiments of the 1500 attendees, national news media attention and many visitors to the city. That route would be fine in the daylight hours while the unfortunate sleep away the day waiting for the night. And you might consider 38th & Fall Creek south to Meridian and then south to the Circle. That route on Fall Creek is a mixture of residences with a few businesses but would avoid many stop lights and interference with auto traffic and business customers. Just a thought to ponder.

    And for the Naysayers :noway:

Agreed...completely. I know some folks won't be able to make this short notice...but this is an opportunity you can't let slip away. And besides...many of us from all over the state will already be at the 1500. And :+1: for the Fall Creek route.

I meant just using the 1500 as a place to get the word out. I think we should do the march in mid to late September

No, no...do it now...then you could repeat the event to coordinate with every 1500. Think about it...4 times a year.

You won't have this opportunity again for 3 month. There will not be a better backdrop than the 1500. :twocents:

It may not be as large as you want it this time...but there will be time for it to grow. And as I said...if you coordinate it with the 1500 more eyes will be on you...and it will be more difficult for your plans to be sabotaged.

Get some flyers made up. If that is the case a Date and Time would need to be formulated at this Sunday's meeting.

Date and time will be set this Sunday.

I've been thinking about this event since it was first brought up and initially supported it but have to withdraw my "I'll be there". There are people on this board that I REALLY hate to agree with but upon further reflection don't feel this will go down in a good way. I understand your feelings. I didn't figure this many people would go out the first time anyway. No hard feelings at all.

    :patriot:

No permit is needed from the laws and ordinances I read. I will have print out copies of the laws with us in case we DO get hassled. Although if anyone does have good contacts with a lawyer their help would be appreciated.

This route would be better than the fall creek route. Theres not much sidewalk space on Fall Creek and would most likely require a police escort to use one of the traffic lanes. Not the best idea in my mind.... Both routes will be discussed and whether or not we wait or go now.

No, no...do it now...then you could repeat the event to coordinate with every 1500. Think about it...4 times a year.

Plans, if they're going to be sabotaged, will happen regardless when and where we start. I do like the idea of starting this during the 1500, but if you think about it, with the 1500, the GP Race, our coverage would most likely get drowned out...

"The Race was great! We watched xxxxx win the race, but then guess what we found out happened while we were cheering on our favorite drivers?....."

I'd rather have a come-out-of-nowhere event and the media have nothing better to focus on but us. I don't want to be drowned out by another event, or try to steal the spotlight from the race. The race does so much for this city, I don't want to upset anyone by trying to steal the spotlight from the race.

Maybe, we could have two seperate events? A smaller one with about 10-15 people MAX during the 1500 then the full blown event later next month? Think about it like this. You have a lot of people on this board not sure about doing this because it hasn't been done before. Why not have a "trial run" during the 1500 then every subsequent 1500 repeat the event?

Again, we can discuss this during the meeting Sunday, but what does everyone think about that?

Since I will not be able to attend the pre planning meeting and maybe this has already been addressed. If you are starting at 38th & ? and ending at the Circle what arrangements are there for transportation back to your vehicles. Participants with vans and car pooling and parking may be an essential logistic to this endeavor. Please forgive my question if this has already been addressed. As for parking, if an OC eating establishment is located maybe that establishment would have suitable vehicle parking and then you would just need transportation to that rallying point. Now, I'll keep quiet.... at least for awhile ;)

Good points. And thing of the hassle of a whole lot of people openly carrying guns. Would a taxi stop? What about busses?

The walk is long enough that you'd almost have to get someone(s) with vans to carry us all back. I'd rather see a circular route to simplify transportation. It's a very long way to walk from the fairgrounds to Monument Circle.

Also, concerning the 1500 - I'm not positive that this is the best time to do it. I think it would make it easier for the OC event to be lost into the normal noise of the weekend, Also the negative media stuff, with the "loophole" and all of that baloney might be in full force, and you'd just be an extension of the "gun nuts going to the 1500."

    Just thinking out loud there...
