While I know, that the carrying of long guns is perfectly legal, do you REALLY think it should be a common practice? Can you explain the logic? Had there ever been a time that the open carrying of long guns has been a common practice, in America? And when I say "common," I mean displayed openly in public society, not some frontiersman toiling on his property in early America.
You mean like all the guns in the pick up truck windows at all the high schools and all over the roads back in the 70's?

No - I read the entire thread. Had no further input so I waited a day or so for the thread to run it's course. Once it was clearly off track, then and only then did I jump in
    .

I know, but it was troll response for sure. It wasn't serious and was meant to get a reaction, whether laughs or an uproar. True troll.

Sidenote:: I laughed when I saw it.

I am currently open carrying my P229. No one seems to care though... I wonder if I can get someone to take pictures of me at some retail outlet.

I understand that there is a media blitz on the AR's and AK's.
I can also understand that there is a very real possibility of those particular weapons being banned.
What I DON'T understand is how everyone starting to carry them around randomly is going to help.
Here in America, we have had nearly absolute freedom with long guns.
Used to be that with that freedom, came a sense of responsibility.
For example, we were never allowed to have loaded guns in the house.
When I cam home from say, squirrel hunting, I unloaded my rifle pretty much as I left the woods.
It was a safety measure that I was taught at a very young age.
When you are done with it, unload it.
Handguns were always treated differently because they are holstered.
If you want a SEVERE tongue lashing, carry your loaded over/under into the lodge at your local skeet range and announce that it is your right to do so.
    You'll be banned. No doubt.

How can being rude and violating long established rules of conduct with long guns possibly help the cause of gun owners everywhere?
    i just don't get it.

Who sets these rules of conduct? There are only 4 rules that I know of. Did you parents set them? Mine didn't. Can someone put on a web seminar for those of us who are unsure of the conduct?

Btw, what about home defense rifles and shotguns? Do they get unloaded inside too? Seems counter-intuitive to me.

You do not have to have a gun to support those that do.
You do not have to carry a gun to support those that do.
You do not have to OC to support those that do.
    Etc. Etc.

    Amen.

you're that guy that believes everything you read on the Internet?

i know what a machine gun is - all in saying is that his automatic assault rifle is dangerous in a place like this. What if one of the clips fell out or something.

What you did there? I saw it.

I'm glad that you were taught rules of conduct or in other words Respect.
I'm sorry to say that it appears that there is a lack of that on the thread.
