    Is this "fleshed out"?
Well, that's the idea, anyway. Some reports are saying men were pulled from Trump's detail to cover events for Jill Biden and for Harris. The president's personal detail never has men enough to cover events such as a rally. The manpower is supplemented by SS men NOT ordinarily assigned protection duties (many are not aware that the main responsibility of the SS is to investigate counterfeiting), then personnel from other fed agencies, then local law enforcement on the outermost perimeter.

The point is that the presence of treasury agents would be in no way unusual on a detail like this, ditto with ATF, DEA, Customs, US Marshals, etc.

    But wait, there’s more:

There is a big difference between flying a drone while the president is present and flying it days in advance.
"shortly" could mean a few days, or a few hours before Trump got there ... :dunno:

Also am not sure they could even prevent people from flying drones the day of the event, as long as it's outside the "secured perimeter".

And why don't Secret Service fly their own drones during the event. Well maybe they do ... but they would have detected someone on roof a few hundred meters from the stage.

Did they have anti drone capabilities there? lots of questions.

We have special anti-drone units deployed at events like that.

Some use fancy anti-drone radar gun thingies but also trained eagles.

The AGR complex of buildings was NOT inside the USSS fenced off security perimeter through which you MUST pass through magnetometers, searches, and screening of everything being carried to enter. Doesn't matter who else was inside or around those AGR buildings, or was stationed inside one of the other buildings there. Law enforcement from USSS and PA State Police had to defeat and cut through the fence surrounding the USSS established security perimeter to get to the building Crooks was on. Those buildings belong to a private manufacturing company. You get into 5th Amendment Takings Clause legal issues if USSS takes them over, fences them off and controls access using armed force.

Including them would have required considerable coordination with AGR owners and significant compensation for "Taking" them, even if it was a week. AGR International makes glass containers among other products. Having been around "glass" production, you can't just turn off the manufacturing and turn it back on again like a light switch. There are extremely high temperature furnace processes involved that can take days to shut down and restart at considerable cost, with palpable risk to the manufacturing furnaces in particular. Even if the rest of a glass manufacturing plant isn't running, a furnace with molten glass in the furnace "pot" stays on 24/7.

One can cite how much patrolling there should have been to prevent nefarious use of them and that's legit.
I believe it was said that law enforcement and or USSS was inside that building because it was to dangerous for them to be on the roof.
    Unless I misunderstood the article.

I'm not warm and/or fuzzy about any of this. My comments in blue.

So nobody took the intro to the intro to Basic Security 101?

Trump shooter likely hid AR-15 behind AC unit, USSS sniper took one shot

Not the 10' Louisville ladder, that was later. I know I saw a picture of the 5-footer on the AC unit.

No ladder was found at the site of the crime, federal law enforcement sources say

Hid it inside something or just stuck it behind? Again with the "golf" rangefinder. We know he went inside the perimeter with the rangefinder that said Ping and not Sig Sauer.
According to a federal law enforcement source briefed on the investigation, Crooks either hid his father’s rifle near the AC unit he used to climb up onto the roof of the AGR building, or he had it in the backpack he was spotted with, along with the golf range finder.

Uuuhhhmmmm, no. Significant disassembly/reassembly involves 2 pins. My Ruger's upper from charging handle to end of the flash hider is 25". A 24" deep backpack would do the job with it in cross-ways.
However, this source said hiding the rifle in his backpack would require a significant amount of disassembling and reassembling the rifle, and that the more likely scenario is that Crooks hid the rifle behind the AC unit.

Why wasn't someone on the roof? There is a lot wrong here.
We now also know that the unit inside that building was a Butler Township Emergency Services Unit sniper team who was doing "overwatch" on the event. This team was looking out of the windows of the building at the event, watching for any suspicious activity, while Crooks snuck up on the roof above them.

Cheatle's claim about the sloped roof being a personnel hazard was a brainless comment tossed out without thinking. She attempted to deflect a legit question. It quickly backfired. Kim Cheatle is a bureaucratic swamp creature.

A Butler Township Emergency Services sniper team was on the 2nd floor of a different AGR building. They weren't in the one Crooks climbed onto and had no view of the portion of the roof Crooks was on. Photos show the open window on the 2nd floor of the building they were in. Investigators piecing together available information concluded Crooks concealed his rifle behind a commercial size A/C unit on AGR property. How long in advance? Who knows. IMHO breakdown and reassembly, while easy and fairly quick, would more likely attract someone's attention than simply pulling it from behind something.

Crooks was already there the morning of the rally and used a drone to recce the site again well before its airspace was shut down. One can legitimately wonder why the entire rooftops of all AGR's buildings weren't covered by some type of overwatch to prevent their use by the nefarious. Drones, however, are a no-go by anyone beginning shortly before a protected person arrives on site. The ban on them is to prevent real time danger to the protected person (intentional or inadvertent).

Coordinating use of a specific room with the company or person that owns the building and obtaining their willing permission to do so is different compared to forcibly commandeering and completely taking one over.

ETA: Prepared this posting before Kelly posted his. There's some remarks repetitive with his.

This whole thing has been a colossal cluster f*** of incompetence, negligence, and complacency. If the reports that agents of other agencies are regularly used to provide protection, then it would appear there's a serious lack of training within multiple agencies. This shows a complete lack of qualified leadership at the top levels of those agencies. If treasury agents (or other agencies) aren't trained to provide protection and emergency evacuation procedures, then they shouldn't be allowed to perform these duties.

To me, this whole thing just looks more and more like some portions of our federal government were in on it.
    • Hanlon's Razor: never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
    • Occam's Razor: the simplest, most elegant explanation is usually the one closest to the truth.

We keep getting more information that reveals how badly they screwed this up. It becomes a question of which is harder to believe given the facts revealed.

    1. That they could be this incompetent amidst astonishing coincidences,
    2. That there was some shenanigans afoot by people who were supposed to protect him on behalf of people who have something to gain by Trump's death.
As more astonishing coincidences are revealed, Hanlon's Razor breaks down and Occam's razor favor overtakes it as #2 becomes the simplest.

The report says Crooks flew the drone over the site “shortly before” Trump arrived, not days before.

Generally aircraft are forbidden to fly over the President’s location, and this is announced in advanced by NOTAMS in the US. I don’t know if this applies to former presidents.

But in any case if somebody was flying a drone around that location on the same day, the Trump was to appear the Secret Service should’ve been all over that given how hard the Dems were pushing for violence against Donald Trump and his supporters. More SS incompetence at a minimum.

And yes, these days the Secret Service should have their own drone(s) working the area.

    Very cool!
Do the drones ever injure the eagles?

They shoot down drones at burning man with all kinds of full auto weapons, even at night with tracers.
I would think maybe shotguns could be used to cover a limited range.

Some have protection wrapped around their legs.
I think the drone stops as soon as the drone is flipped over by the eagle's attack.
They are trained to grab it and bring it to their handler.

Shotguns are used for close range on top of anti-drone jammers.

The eagles can be used indoor, in large buildings, and above/around crowds.
Something you can't do with a shotgun.

The police in the Netherlands have been using them for almost a decade.

It's France it's used a lot by the Air Force.
They are massive and fast ... I bet they could stop a human from entering their airfield.
