Yesterday I really was pink. 101.3, but I think it broke today.

Graduated from whiting high school.
My father was a machinist at amoco for 25 years.
My dad had a friend that lived in marktown. I remember going there when I was younger.
I grew up in the shadow of the Standard Oil refinery. Still have relatives up there, but now its BP Amoco. Sinclair Oil was up there too.
On a different note, got my lawn tractor back from the repair shop about 10 days ago. Going back to the shop. WTF!?!

Former Marktown hotel is torn down - Post-Tribune
The hotel was the first building to go. Since then the old libary was removed and some of the houses. The long term plan is to remove the entire town.
BP has slowly be building up the land.

I lived on Atchison for a while. I was 1500 block of Atchison down by the horseshoe club.
My my wife grew up on Atchison across from sportsmen corner bar.
I also lived on birch ave. for awhile over by calumet college.
We lived in the apartments just across the street (north) of Sportsmens bar.
My grandfather, father & uncle built them. We lived in the north building on the 2nd floor. There is a cherry tree between the 2 buildings that my grandfather planted that I used to climb, I think its still growing there (was last time I looked).

May parents still live on Atchison. I get to visit the old stomping grounds every now and then.
My inlaws had the house right across the street to the south on the corner.
I've been in there a couple times. Went to midtown on New York ave. most of the time.
