Well, the good news is, they've cut some unnecessary spending, such as DEATH BENEFITS to military killed in the line of duty.
Shutdown holding up military, VA benefits

Them damn soldiers, expecting to get paid for dying. Where do they get that from. Just because they have to pay, yes pay, it is an insurance OSGLI (Office Serviceman's Group Life Insurance or something like that). Since regular insurance doesn't pay war time benefits, the gov insures them. And the serviceman has to pay. So he not only paid his country with HIS LIFE, but now $/month ALSO. And that isn't enough.

And the pool is covered. 3 people, and lots of strained muscles, mostly on me.

Now I just have to build a skeleton over the pool, to hold another cover, to keep the leaves off the pool. Come spring, they weigh a ton.

    Jedi, or anybody,
Is it possible to password protect a home network. People plugging in to my wired network would still need a password.
I'm thinking of password protecting it, since I'm the only one paying for it.

I'm also thinking of getting rid of Cable TV (just the TV part).
    1) I can watch a lot of things online.
    2) My living room TV is going on the fritz, and often won't show a picture.
    3) My bed room TV connection is bad or something, keeps glitching the signal.

So if I can't watch it, why should I pay for it.

I have a friend who works for the Fed Gov and was furloughed last week . She works at the federal court house in Hammond and was called back in today to get some paperwork together but was advised she wouldn't be getting paid for it until the shutdown was over. I told her that didn't sound legal to me and then she went on to tell me that last Monday they got called in to shutdown her department and to have a staff meeting, which was also on their own time, and they were informed they couldn't apply for unemployment or seek temporary employment. If they did choose to do either they would be considered terminated at their own choice. They were also instructed not to voice their personal opinions on the shutdown or comment on any social media about their employment status. I found this very troubling that our government is able to control it's employees in such a manner.

How do you have your home network setup?
    Do you have this?

Co-Axial from Outside to MODEM to ROUTER to PCs?

In your router you can tell it to only allow MAC addresses you put in there. So that way only the PCs you have will be able to connect.
Wireless yes you can password protect. WIRED depending on the router you might be able to password protect but if not the MAC trick does work.
You will need to password the router as well and SECURE it so that no one can reset it.

I have to look on the models.
Outside Comcast cable to Comcast modem to router to hub to PC. Actually, in my room, 1 cable comes to another hub, to split roku, PC, printer.
I'll have to break the directions out. Damn.

Was looking at some .22LR/.22Mag revolvers today.
I also saw this pump action .357 Taurus.

But on half pay, I probably shouldn't be buying them.

What is the brand and name of the router. That will be the key to this.
Tell the router to only allow the following MAC address (one per computer) and you will be golden.
