Truth is, I was never that particular. I've closed that chapter now, after an illustrious 40 year career. I want to remember whatever years I have left  .

I can't say I've been to a Bakers Square in at least a decade.

Lots of people seem upset they are closing, maybe because there are multiple locations? I don't see people get upset when the locally owned family (typically Greek owned) restaurant closes down or changes hands. I'd rather eat at a Greek joint that offers good value and a wide menu than a restaurant that is stuck in time and doesn't evolve.
Oh, I get more upset by those. I'm still broken hearted my bookstore closed down. Now I'm forced to use others that aren't family owned.

There is one on Jarrett St. in Highland.

As for a decent breakfast and lunch place, The Corner Cafe in Griffith is good. They give 5 eggs for breakfast. Their country fried steak (hamburger) with white gravy is better than Cracker Barrel.

If you went to the Bakers Square in Merrillville, do yourself a favor and drive 1/4 mile south on Mississippi St. and go to Grand Park.
