We have another st john resident in the mix.
In terms of training let me get wild duece to answer you.
He is our training guru and is always pointing out the various local training session going on. We have a member in knox, il who does a lot of local training at a relative lower price then the big names in the rest of indiana. He is very good and its a no gimick just training courses.

Thanks ! found the thread.....from St.John btw, glad to see so many NWI people here. As long as we are on the NWI subject, who offers good training in this area ?? Defensive pistol, legal, etc etc......surprisingly I havent found much in the region. Everything I see is always east, south, Indy, central, or into Illinois up north

Some on here have the idea that St John is a place to be avoided. There have been a few reports of Jack Bootery and at lease one member who had really bad experience there, that included legal fees.

Good thing I don't have that. We only get the councilmen who try every few months to pass something to prevent us from shooting in the country all because the people who are moving here from Chicago are reminded as to why they left.

I've been approached a few times in St John. Never a negative with police though. Always sheeple coming at me saying that I'm a fake police and it's illegal to open carry..

I do work in SJ occaisonally, I have OC'd in Stracks, Goodwill, DQ and TSC and never had a problem.

Correct but the polce did not target him, ie profile. The police were called to the place he was at by someone else. When they discovered he was from hammond that is whej his problems started. Hammond = thug = you people = scumbag.

FWIW, I walked out of the fencing club during a manhunt in SJ and walked into a half dozen or so locals & sheriff's officers, all with guns drawn. They asked where I came from, blah blah blah. Asked if anyone strange was inside, I explained only the members. They asked if I had a key to the building (Great Lakes Orthopedic Building), answered in the affirmative and asked if I would go back, alert the other members, and lock everyone in the building until closing (about 30 min later). They met us and escorted us to our cars at closing. They knew that 2 of us insider were armed.

Yup. Bill B is a north of 30 THUG.

I've also OC'd in SJ without any issues. Starbucks, TSC, the dry cleaner next to Lake Central H.S. and Stracks. Never had an issue. Walked right past a pair of uniformed officers while doing it. Closest thing to an 'issue' I ever had was a little girl once said to her mom: "Look mommy that man is wearing a gun" and the mom said something like "that so he can protect people" or something close to that.
