I'm in the same boat but in the 14 years we lived here we've lost power three times. The longest one was 6 hours.

You are very lucky, but that is part of living in the city. Out in rural areas the outages are more frequent and often for longer durations.

Our longest was 8 days, Sunday to Sunday.

I've had a few more that were in the 2 to 4 day range.

Lots of 6 to 8 hour outages, usually in the winter with severe conditions.

In your case I would have one. We are on the same main line that runs to the hospital, so as long as we don't lose a transformer we are good. Two of those three we lost a transformer.
