Eh, yes and no when it comes to glorifying. They were still "outlaws" and weren't held up as someone to admire necessarily. More like characters in a story really.

Half the rappers out there are "characters in a story." A good many of them are college educated, and have never seen the inside of a jailhouse.

To name a few: David Banner grad of Southern-Business, Ludacris grad Georgia State-music management, Guru grad Morehouse-Business Admin.

I'm not knocking you for your taste preferences, as to each their own, but let's not say all rappers are bad guys and all rap sends a bad message.

Fair enough! I do realize that it's not all negative, so not liking it in general is just musical taste, and you're right, to each their own. *cough* rap sucks *cough* :stickpoke: :):

What ever happened to good music……like Johny Cash? "My momma told me son, be a good boy, don't ever play with guns…..but I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die…." listen to the cheers from the prisoners…..dang rappers.

With the point being the guy is in prison and is regretting his loss of freedom? That one?

Lots of murder in country songs and bluegrass. The murderer typically does not fare well though. Prison, lost in a cave and dying, that sort of thing.

I believe that when Police show them to be the hard targets that they are, the mopes will start to attack citizens wherever they can find them, if they appear to be unarmed and defenseless.

I will not be one of the unarmed and defenseless.

In reality, these attacks have been going on for quite some time. It is more intense recently. It will get worse.

The race war has begun. Sugar coat it if you want....

Lots a songs like that in hip-hop. One that comes to mind, is "My Mind is Playin' Tricks on Me," by the Geto Boys. It's about the paranoia and depression from living the thug life.

I'm quoting you simply because it's the most recent post related to my epiphany.

I think you all are putting the cart before the horse. The music isn't the cause. It is the reflection.

    That, I can agree with.

Point is murder and thug life glorified, listen to the cheers, they don't care….just like thugs don't care today, no matter what music they listen too. Change the heart, or what type of music listened to won't matter.

If we're to support financially only the things with morally good messages, we have a lot less to watch, read, or hear. I'm sure you don't condone mass murder, but I'm betting you've seen Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, or Friday the 13th.
Mathematically, yes. Something from something bigger yields less. But if your implication was that the resulting something was so reduced as to be worthlessly small, you'd be wrong.

And as an adult, I do actively eschew those things which contradict so gratuitously my moral code. If those things are in my house, it is a tacit acceptance of the content. I do not want my children thinking that that kind of violence is ever okay. Ever. So if a parent lets a particular style of music be played in his house with his young children present and listening, whether it be his intention or not, he is telling those children that the content of that music, the lyrics that they hear, are acceptable and compliant with the family's values and moral code. Period.

I would like to add that there is a relatively large number of rap/hip-hop artists in the Jello genre as well.

That's you job as a parent. You only illustrate my point; it all starts at home. If you raise a child right, he could read the collected works of Adolph Hitler, Kublai Khan, Stalin, Mao and still have a strong enough moral code to understand their words were nonsense. Very entertaining, but nonsense nonetheless.

Circling back to the subject of the thread:
Killed by police after pointing a gun at a police officer. Isn't that considered death by natural causes?

I understand what you-all say and I couldn't count it out. What needed to be done was done.

    But I call it sad.

We all had hopes and dreams as young people. Sure we did stupid things, things we regret, but we had great things that we intended to do someday. I refuse to call it evil, or even stupidity, I just don't know what to call it, other than sad.

All I got, is I'm sad for his family, and the officer that has to live with taking another person's life.

Its more basic than that. The reason race is a focus is because its been propaganda driven by a concerted push by the media. This is simply class division and pouring gas on the fire to have the end effect. This is the entitlement state fighting those in power that are the "old establishment" Quite simply those that are socialists living on the govt and those that believe in the "old united states" of personal responsibility and natural rights.
